74th career game, and 28 points lol which is pretty good when you think about it
For contrast, Chiarots career high is 21 lol
Edmundson 20
Savard hasn't had 25 points in 9 years lol

I think Barron could be special for us in 3-4 years, as in hopefully can hit that Markov/Subban 60 pt threshold
If not him then hopefully Hutson
But 60 is a pretty high bar I'm asking a lot I know
I am not sure about 60 but 35-50 is for sure

But Dach started to emerge at C. he's not here this year

I imagine we'd be sitting with a few more pts in the standings if Dach had been healthy and made even a marginal positive step forward from last year... I could see him tilting 2-3 wins at the minimum, maybe more if he really broke out.

This group finds a way to win far above expected.

I only watched the ot, but what the heck was Lowry bitching about?

I mean, he delivered at least a couple heavy cross checks in that sequence.

3 observations

- Habs have a lot of trouble handling 2 Man forechecks. Other teams have clearly noticed and are exploiting this glaring weakness.

- 3rd periods continue to be atrocious. Dunno what's up with that but these are consistently the worst periods.

- Metheson is a terrible defenseman. Baffling how much he's used. As soon as he was off the ice in OT, we scored. Coincidence? I don't think so.

A lot of you keep saying this but wtf does "rebuild properly" mean??? It's not like there's a precise formula to doing this. Accumulating a bunch of high first round picks is clearly not it either (Edmonton) so...like maybe just lay off it already? Sit tight, hope whatever plan the bosses have works and just enjoy the show.

All ya tankers are seriously annoying, y'all bring nothing interesting to the conversation by constantly parroting the same rhetoric. Go write your complaints in the tank thread.
That’s the thing, they will be mid/bad forever if they don’t rebuild properly.

One of them is playing double the other. This isn’t meant to be a snipe at Struble but come on. How hard is it to be steady with no offensive expectations playing 12 mins a night versus 25? Figure it out guys. Give Struble more ice time but don’t pretend it isn’t obvious why you see one making mistakes more often than the other as if it was a cake walk to be playing over 25 minutes a night.
Not only is Matheson is a tire fire in his own end and yes he makes some decent forays offensively but he makes far more mistakes per capita.
If I can use that term. More than anyone one except perhaps Barron.
I count his poor decision making in the Ozone as well.
Terrible shot selection telegraphed passes missing or not seeing wide open players all these things add up.
The thing is what Matheson is or isn't doing has no bearing on what Struble has accomplished NONE.
When Struble starts making bad decisions I'll be the first to admit it but that just isn't the case right now in any aspect of his game.

14-13-4, only 3 points out of playoff spot. Pretty good considering no Dach, Anderson just getting back to his old self and a young defense.

Good game, fast paced. Beat the Jets who are a playoff caliber team. Our defense looks like maturing at times. Anderson getting back to his old self. Nice to see Allen play solid game where he mentioned in trade rumours. Evans so soft in puck I get so mad at him. Morgan Barron could be addition to us in future if ever get a deal on him.. He's bottom 6 caliber. Where his brother plays here.

Is this the cool thing to say as a habs fan that Barron suck defensively?

Your evaluation is completely off. For such a young def Barron is actually pretty good defensively.
Most underrated prospect by our fan base.
Just as cool as the continuous ragging on Matheson.

We’re dead last in the league in regulation wins with 6. These overtime games are inflating our record.

Yep, Marty St-Louis is still the head coach. If there’s one thing this guy can teach, it’s self sacrifice and beating expectations

I suppose it's cool to simply ignore his shortcomings Admiral?
Given his experience and his natural gifts he should be better.
He’s not 8-years in as an NHL regular after 3-NCAA seasons. There’s a reason he makes $4.8M and not $8M & over like 22TOI top D (Hedman, Carlson, Doughty etc.)

It’s also why he’s on his 3rd team - those big TOI eating 1st pairing D are rarely traded once let alone twice…. in exchange for a cap dump no less

Every team wins one goal games….I’d go even further and say it’s harder and it takes a lot more character to win 1 goal games vs winning blowouts!!
We're 27th in GF/gp and 24th in GA/gp, 25th in SF/gp and 29th in SA/gp... and dead last in Regular Time wins.

This team would bankrupt a lot of bookies if it won a playoff round, I can tell you that.

No, he’s not perfect. But for a player who plays 26 minutes a night, in all game situations; is third in team scoring; provides elite skating, is a respected team leader; is an important reason why this talent challenged team is still in the playoff picture and is paid a modest $4.5 million salary, he receives a lot of knee jerk, if not predictably monotonous criticism.

For those here who incessantly clamour for the team to trade him I would remind and caution them of that all too accurate adage: be careful of what you wish for.

Good for Barron. We are slowly gaining PP competent players. Love to see winnipeg seal their own fate like that lmao. Slaf was good again and I love when Andy is on his game :D
Thought that Slafkovsky played one of his best games and, together with Anderson, was an intimidating presence in all three zones of the ice. One can only wonder in awe what level of physicality he will bring to the team in two or three years when he fills out and plays bigger and faster. This could get interesting. And very painful for Montreal opponents.

Well dont tell them that!!!

He has totally settled in. One of the best shutdown dman a team can ask for with a great offensive upside. Now, what have you got to swing, Avs?

With 60 pts he will still end up -30 on the season :D
Karrlsson won a Norris with a -26, just saying....

No worries about Barron, he is 21 yrs old.
The kid will be a very good one!
