If Dach doesn't show up ready to play at the outset of camp he could possibly be waived.
That is if he's even on this roster to start the season. There is no way The Big Club will give him the same rope he got this year. Our rebuild is no longer in a position to permit the long runway we gave him to find something resembling game shape.
Of the 57 games he participated in this season I'd say his presence was felt in a positive way in maybe 20% of them. So the Kirby Dach we thought we were getting was arguable only available for a dozen games or so.

We already have one 3rd line center in Evans we don't need two. 4th line players on contenders are signed for 700k-900k. Unless Dvorak wants to extend for that kind of money he should be out. People did not learn anything from the last 30 years, Contenders give money to top players and they rotate the depth. We give money to depth and we rotate top players. That's not the way to go.

Extending Armia and Dvorak depends on what they ask and if Dach or Newhook are out. You need to at least free one spot for Demidov so someone has to be out. We can afford a 4th line paid like a 2nd line because we have a young team. Wont always be the case once we start contending the 4th line will have to be paid like a 4th line. Like for Evans KH will ask those guys to accept their role on the ice but in the contract too. If they get greedy either in term or money i doubt KH will budge.

We all saw how Hughes deals with contracts. It’s a given that with the excess of forward we will have with Demidov and probably a 2C, if one of Armia or Dvorak is extended, it will be on Habs terms. I agree it will depends on Dach’s status with the team.

I think one of the questions to ask is how ready is our AHL guys to step in in case of injuries. The team has been very lucky health wise this season. Knock on wood. So that kind of depth is important. I don't disagree with you but you need to have a decent guy #14-16 on depth chart to step in

Gally has played pretty good hockey this whole season tho, even when the points dried up. That whole line has been quite consistent this whole season.

That two week break did wonders for him. When healthy/rested, he's still impactful. He's still the biggest warrior on our team and if he needs a week off here or there moving forward, he's earned it.

Dach is a mid player and management should’ve acknowledged this earlier instead of waiting for that waste of ice time to go down naturally.

2) I have no idea what point you’re trying to make on my goaltending point. The team rallied yes, but big picture is. We can’t let those kind of goals continue to go in if we are serious about A) playoffs and B) a run.
I made that comment not as criticism, but as an observation on what we need to continue to have success.

I think trying to make Savard a top 4 at his age was WAY more negatively impactful than Dach. When we acquired Carrier and downgraded Savard into the 3rd pairing it made the team much better.
