I think trying to make Savard a top 4 at his age was WAY more negatively impactful than Dach. When we acquired Carrier and downgraded Savard into the 3rd pairing it made the team much better.

Ive been very vocal about the mistake in resigning Barron over Kova since the summer.
Poor pro scouting, but forgivable considering the upside on Barron. Savard falling off should have been somewhat expected, Hutson playing the way he did from the moment he touched habs ice is the reason it didnt burn us.
Hughes also recovered with the trade. The Dach one is way worse, as all year we have this huge gap in a critical position. 2nd line C/ The constant delusion of this guy being better than he was, Poor body language and forced usage. Waiting and waiting. Pure favoritism. A pro like armia has to play AHL last year and dach just gets to tank the team. Please note, Armia was also a high pick.
No help for suzuki who needs to be perfect on a night to night basis.

Dude cooked our season, we better not do that again.

Demidov is coming. Kapanen is coming. Beck is close to NHL ready. Farrell and Davidson are knocking this year. Roy is knocking this year. Florian won't be long knocking. Hage will be entering the pros at the end of next year.

There's too many guys and not enough spots, and he's generally been terrible.

Drouin was forced to play center on a team that had no offensive system, still scored 50 (same age too)

I understand we're entering the next stage, and he doesn't have a role with us anymore. Even if he would sign a two-way with Montreal, he would be 3-4th on the call up list.

Drouin is garbage and definitely can't play centre. Dach had more chance of being a decent centre. Of course injuries put paid to that.

We are still building a contending team. The building process aint over we still need to fill the 2nd line and top 4 so we'll try kids who might not be good enough.

Heineman has looked below average lately. The last thing he's earned is to be put into more offensive roles.

Oh yeah, he's done here. I hope he does latch on somewhere, I like him and he's been nothing but a great teammate and good person from what I've seen. So wish him well but he's not part of a contending team imo

Good game! All round team effort against good teams. They demonstrated in this game in the third period that they can fight, persist, claw, and climb from behind and win, and in the previous game against Florida they demonstrated they can keep a lead against a determined opponent. They can forecheck, defend, and attack, plus they have Laine and Montembeault who can periodically steal points on their own.

They seem to be gelling very well. The 12 day break was a much needed rest.
Let's hope they keep rolling.......

From 2017 to 2021 he was Arizona 5th most used forward. The 4 guys ahead of him were Kessel, Keller, Stepan and Hall. He had his chance with Arizona. He's not a top 6 player should be clear by now a 4 points game wont change that. I mean Bulis and Eller both had a 4 points game.

I agree with you. and i was being uncharitable with that last statement. If we need that 2c, why not try others?
Why was it Dach glued to Laine for example? I see newhook as a better player and actual Center that could've been tried. He was great last year too. Why not try trading for guys to play center? Why did it have to be Dach?
My issue is , we didn't try anything other than Dach at 2C the entire year.
It falls on the Gm and pro scouting to recognize that his draft pedigree means nothing.
I feel like they dropped the ball on this, and may have hurt our chances at the playoffs because of an obsession with a guy that just isn't him. 2 games at the start of a season is not enough data to lead me to believe he is anything special. Chicago saw it and they dumped him too while he had value.
