Habs at the World Championships

Hey! I just read we get to see Barron vs Hutson; tldr thread but I will try and tune into this stuff in between gardening fits it’ll be sunny here all week.

This tournament is a joke. They should do a World Cup every 4 years with the real stars and give the Olympics back to the amateurs or U21. Skip the WJHC every fourth year Sorry TSN but feel free to pick up the World Cup. IIHF can run the Euros every year in this time slot for all I care.

Honestly, people blame Bettman for the most ridiculous stuff. It is amazing how entirely clueless most people are about his job and how they link him to draft/officiating conspiracy theories. Soon we will hear that he is harboring Bigfoot in his underground bunker along with alien space crafts and has Elvis on life support while he lip syncs Love Me Tender back to him.

After Covid and the Free Dumb convoy it is depressing to see so many people without an ounce of intelligence on full display.

Absolute garbage. Bettman is the boss. He is responsible for EVERYTHING. If it doesn't get fixed it is because he doesn't want it fixed. Even if he is clueless and doesn't know there is a problem his lieutenants should. Bettman is a cockroach.
 
Imagine comparing the international circuits of soccer and hockey. In soccer, you have talent dispersed across many leagues. In contrast, Gary Bettman owns basically all of the talent in hockey and he guards them from incurring injuries, scheduling conflicts, and insurance issues, among other things. As the boss of the owners, at the end of the day, their interests are all he cares for. Just imagine that we haven't seen Connor McDavid on the largest scale with the Canadian jersey on. And people say that bettman cant be blamed for the lack of interest from some of our best players to play in this pointless tournament. In the ,past we always had much better teams than this. The owners deserve alot of blame too but gary is more fun to pick on lol

There's 2 groups of 8 teams, so 7 round robin games kick off the tournament.

Canada will be fine to exit group stage. Group includes:

Czech Republic
Kazakhstan
Latvia
Norway
Slovakia
Slovenia
Switzerland
