If theres a better offer. Otherwise what, just keep him and not make the playoffs and get nothing? So if Kaplan is right and the NYR package is Othmann and a first, I look elsewhere as GMKD.
It’s hilarious how these insiders are flip flopping and tripping over each other, they clearly have no f***ing idea what is actually going on
2nd round pick and Goodrow for Jake at 50%.1st round pick Calum Ritchie and a 4th for Jake Guentzel
Supposedly the Penguins are still interested in extending him if he is not traded,If theres a better offer. Otherwise what, just keep him and not make the playoffs and get nothing?
That’s not happenings

Eh, that's probably as good as you're going to get from any team. A pretty good scoring prospect and a 1st for a high end rental is about right. So if Kaplan is right and the NYR package is Othmann and a first, I look elsewhere as GMKD.
Lol. Okay troll elsewhereHe who wants SC wants Guentzel. One of the best ES goal scorer in PO's. Carolina should be pushing this like nobody's business. Problem is they don't want cup they love to be mediocre

Maybe just balance it out with like a conditional 4th which becomes a 3rd to Pit if the Rangers make it to the ECF this season or something.
Pagnotta knows absolutely nothing
I agree, especially when Carolina has to pay much more.I’m surprised Pens are happy with NYR offer - seems underwhelming lol
It's a bidding war so I want a crazy high price even if it's "unrealistic".I’m surprised Pens are happy with NYR offer - seems underwhelming lol
What's the offer?I’m surprised Pens are happy with NYR offer - seems underwhelming lol
Five (soon to be six) straight playoff appearances, with at least one series win in each, including two trips to the semifinal is mediocre to you?He who wants SC wants Guentzel. Yeah like Othmann isn't much worse of a prospect, if at all, than Yager. Pulling him off would be awesome.
He's like a Guentzel/Hornqvist hybrid in how he plays from reading his scouting report.
Orrrrr you can both trade him for assets in this wasted season and still resign him. If it’s the 8th year objection youre thinking of thats easy to handle with a sign and trade for like a 5ths

Haven't followed closely how he's developed this year, but the one thing I remember about him is having a lethal shot to go along with a natural ability to find the open spots. Would be nice to add that to the Pens' system.Yeah like Othmann isn't much worse of a prospect, if at all, than Yager. Pulling him off would be awesome.

Othmann would be a great basis for the return for rental Guentzel (especially as I still hold out hope the Pens will simply throw 7 x 9 at him and re-sign him this summer). He’s on pretty much the ideal realistic growth path for a mid-first round pick - two very good seasons to close out his junior hockey career followed by a very promising start to his professional career. 0.75 P/GP with good goalscoring as a rookie in the A is awesome. He’ll very likely make the team out of camp next year and has a skill set that almost guarantees he will at least be a good third-liner, but grants him a lot of top-6 upside.I like how Vancouver fans were screaming about how Lekkerimaki was not available for a rental Guentzel, but the Penguins getting a 1st and Othmann is somehow "underwhelming".
