So apparently getting the 15th ranked prospect for a rental is insanity, but getting the 45th ranked prospect for a rental is underwhelming?

Yeah, Othmann isn't as good as Lekkerimaki. But he's still clearly a B+ prospect that is very uncommonly moved for a rental.

If Othmann is involved, I have to wonder if that means the Rangers are working on an extension for Guentzel. Drury said they weren't on the table for a rental... an extended player is not a rental.

Which, I'd be ok with. It would force us to get rid of some of our deadweight.
