Crosby makes average wingers good, good wingers great, and great wingers excellent. He's done it forever. Guentzel is not the exception to the rule. I am not moving a 23 YO 3rd line winger with team control for two more seasons for a rental that has no shot to re-sign here. Sorry, not good business at all.

The numbers speak for themselves. Sorry your rental isn't going to get you the massive haul in return. No rental does. He plays wing, the only position that has lower value based on that alone is goalie.

If the Rangers trade Kakko, they need to get someone to replace his spot in the lineup, giving up even more assets for something they already have. They need winger that can play on PP2 and help their 2nd line. There are plenty of players that can do just that and not cost you a roster player and a 1st. Pass. Hard Pass.

This is why every player to ever play with Crosby has had Guentzel’s success, of course and why Crosby insists on having Guentzel on his line.
