Oshawa, ON- The Oshawa Generals announced today they have traded forward Domenico Commisso to the Guelph Storm in exchange for a draft selections.
In exchange, the Generals will receive:
  • 2nd Round Selection in 2023
  • 2nd Round Selection in 2024
  • 5th Round Selection in 2021

Commisso seemed to split the fan base in terms of how people viewed him but I was always a fan. Will always play hard and is just the classic OA who understands how to succeed in this league and will be a good PP guy

Hey guys. What do you think about tonight's matchup? I'm not ranking Sarnia very high except a few top guys... Should be a solid home win..

Thanks for the info!! What line did he play on in Oshawa? Definitely looks like an upgrade over Poirier in the points department, perhaps he'll be 3rd line with Kirwin/Ralph or would he slot in the top 6?

Could be either. Kadri like in the way that he could play top 6 for the Leafs but would be really good as a 3C

I think we are giving up a lot of assets for 1 yr rental players even if they are 5 and 6 yrs down the road.

And I've heard the arguments before that they will be replaced later when are going into rebuilding mode.

Personally, I like to see a consistent team that's always competitive and doesn't go through cycles. The way to do that is building through the draft and being sensible in your buying habits

I'd rather win a championship after a couple of bad years than gave my team consistently exit in round 1 or 2.

Poppy and Bert plus all thr picks for DiPietro.

I think this game against Sarnia paints an accurate picture - Guelph dominated the 1st period and are down 3-1. Not knocking Popovich, but if this is the year, a brick wall will put us over the top given the scoring potential... a game breaker who can bail out the occasional defensive lapse.

Well if we're making a run at it I wouldn't put my money on DiPietro but on getting defencemen that are committed to playing the game the right way and pay attention to defence and not let their goalie hang out to dry

Having looked at the replay, I only saw one goal where the defence left the goalie hung out to dry. There were a number of shots that probably would have been preferred “do-overs”. Still early - not worried yet.

Popovich is a very good goalie most days, this team could get very far with him. If I'm any team looking championship this year I am watching where DiPietro goes because that team will be the favourite.

Also, that beauty finish was the OIL play of the night and Schnarr was the OIL 1st star. That sure was an exciting end to the game, thought I was going to need the defib!

You're willing to give up Bertuzzi, Popovich and likely 2-3 second round picks + probably a 3rd and fourth?

I don't think you realize what the price is for DiPietro. He is going to be on the World Junior Team Canada roster.

gradually learning to accept the basic Merkley..take the bonehead with the brilliant..like the hung out to dry stuff.. then the last pass...WOW..eh?..it iz what it iz...

I understand and stand by my comment. Do you think this team is going to win the Robertson as it stands? If no, who would you trade for and what assets would that cost?

Storm have now rung off 4 games in a row with 6 goals - notwithstanding the gaffe game that let Saginaw back in only to be dispatched, does anyone remember that kind of a streak with 6 gpg? I do.

Also, cheers to Commisso with his first 2 points with the Storm tonight, and Keegan Stevenson with a 2 goal performance for his first multi-point game!

Some thoughts after the first few games: I think the Commisso pick up is good one. He seems to work real hard and adds the depth at forward that we need. I hate when we play 7 defensemen in a game with one on a forward line. If the goaltending keeps going the way it has, I see Daws getting more starts than Popovich. I think Popovich glove hand is weak and teams seem to know it. As for Ryan Merkley, I have been very happy with what I have seen since he has returned from NHL camp. His effort back checking is much better and he is making better decisions in his own end.....aside from the gaffe at the end of the game in Saginaw.

Overall the games and team have been entertaining to watch and at the end of the day that is what is important to me. It should be a fun season and am looking forward to watching this team grow as the season progresses.

The team is on fire and kicking ass left and right!
Merkley has been in top form since his return from SJ, he's been skating and competing hard, winning defensive battles and showing that extra effort when in tough situation. Word is he left Flints game after blocking a shot and is day to day right now, hoping for a not rushed recovery.
