Chayka totally slipped my mind somehow.. with him rounding out the bottom 4 D that leaves the OA to be another forward, possibly an upgrade on Porier as well

Here we go again dump on Merkley, even tho we haven't seen him play yet this year. I guess the Sharks scouts, management, GM, coaches etc are no where near as astute at rating talent as a certain poster.

Honestly, if this team does have dreams of contending, I think the last OA needs to be a top 6 F (ideally a big centreman) whos a difference maker. Though not a centre, Justin Brazeau might be one to look at. Plug forwards are not difference makers.

Otherwise, I think the team looks decent on paper. I'm not sold on the goaltenders...I'll need to see how they look over the first month or two before I am ready to pass judgement. Defense doesn't worry me too much, especially if the team can score goals.

Should be fun. One more sleep!

LV honestly I have no respect for people who can't or won't think positively. If you will recall oa on the rangers rush, his comments were not tolerated by other ranger fans either., and they let him know. This is an open forum and if unwarranted criticism isn't challenged it soon becomes fact. How pray tell was I disrespectful?

I should have used the sarcasm emoji, if there is one. It was a joke - sorry for the confusion.

thats right not a minute with his team.... but not to worry;... the coronets will flourish .. and out he'll come..

No matter where you land on Merkley and admittedly he can be frustrating at times. The kid is uber talented and having extended exposure at an NHL camp with the likes of Brent Burns, Mark Edward Vlasic and Erik Karlsson can only help!!! and he was a +2 in his first preseason game. Anyways looking forward to the start of season and watching this team develop over the coming months.

Last nights game was fun to watch.
It looks like Windsor has two starting goalies on their hands, I see DiPietro being traded sooner rather than later.

Say what you want about Merkley (joking, please don't) - the power play could have used him last night! So many opportunities, Poirier has no business being on the PP.

It was nice to see Hawel have a bit of success, looking forward to getting Toropchenko and Merkley back to see line combos, chemistry and how we compare to other teams in the West depending on who returns from the NHL vs. sticks.

Here is hoping the weather cooperates and lots turn out for Fanfest. Sounds like a lot of fun, with management investing in the fans. Free food, entertainment and lots for the kids. St. George's square at 4:00 to 7:00. Hope to see a great turnout.
Re last night's game, a point is better than no point, it has been a while since we out shout an opponent, stymied by a hot goalie.

Good luck tonight Storm fans. I'd really like to see an opposing fanbase's perspective on Byfield after the game!

The season is officially on. I said some harsh things about Merkley last year and I do believe he can pull it together and have a monster season this year.
Here's hoping for some quality hockey this year, from Storm land and Leaf Nation.

Where is the best place to park for Sleeman Centre. Tonight was a disaster getting. A spot

Dear George,

I have been really good this year. For Christmas I would like a Mikey DiPietro. If I cannot have a DiPietro, a Strome/Saiegon will do.

What is the story with Owen Lalonde tonight barely played in last two periods?

Congrats to Storm management for an amazing time at Fanfest. The weather cleared and the sun came out to smile on the event. The food from the food trucks was nothing short of amazing. If anyone tried some of the other offerings other than the samples they would have been blown away as both I and son-in-law were. The jerk chicken was crazy, the mexican tacos were as good if not better than the street food in Playa del Carmen. And the indian offerings were also incredible. I saw lots of happy people in Old Quebec Street and the atmosphere continued into the Sleeman Center, well at least through the first period. From the second on the Storm looked flat and appeared not to be able to fight back against a Sudbury team that played an excellent road game, and credit where credit is due. Not the start to the season we all had hoped for.

Same old, same old issues, George. That was not a good game.

Storm Surge sounds like many an Oshawa and Belleville fan from the past in regards to their coach/GM. Lots of pieces in Guelph right now that can take them on a run this year

Can someone answer the Wolves fans previous questions about how Byfield looked and about Lalonde playing time?

Lalonde ...4 2nd round + picks?.. a couple of those D are good..... midgets..

Byfield has speed and size and can use both efficiently. He needs work on his faceoffs and he's a little tentative going into the corners but all this will come in time and I think he could be a well rounded player. One thing he's going to learn and probably the hard way is that when the whistle blows you don't go after the opposition's goalie. He's very lucky that he didn't do that in a game with a more combative team. These are just my thoughts and other posters may have more to add.
