Never said it was an issue you must've missed the part where I said "preseason is about seeing what you have and figuring out your depth chart"
You did suggest six rookies in the line up sounding like an excuse, just pointed out Mississauga had five, big deal, its the preseason like I said.

10 storm players gone to NHL dev camps..
Ratcliffe - Flyers
Merkley - Sharks
Schnarr - Coyotes
Hawel - Stars
Samorukov - Oilers
Toropchenko - Blues
Hillis - Canadiens
Popovich - Stars as a FA
LaLonde - Maple Leafs as a FA
Ralph - Hurricanes as a FA

Monday's game was a let down after the way the team came out on Saturday, that said inconsistency should be expected at preseason.

You have to wonder how much last year's injuries weigh on Bertuzzi's mind as he goes into the corners. Hard to blame him for being a little gun shy to start the year. Hopefully he gets it together.

The upcoming year will be interesting. Whichever way the season unfolds we will see some new faces on the ice, some from the prospects and it would hard not to foresee another player or players added by trade.

Good to see Ralph and Popovich going to camp, one works hard every shift and the other faced more pucks than any other goalie in the O.

I attended Monday's pre season game and agree it was a lacklustre affair. I was disappointed with the returning forwards. It just seemed to me that it was last season all over again, admittedly it is pre season so not getting too worked up about it. It would have been refreshing to see a little more jump from some guys though.

I thought that McFarlene and Collins looked real good and the rookie defence faired pretty well given it was their second game.

I am not sure I understand why they have kept Poirier though. I think in a year where this team should be competing at the top of the division you need a bigger contribution from your overage players than what you will receive from Zach.

not to worry... the enigma will soon return... EHEM!... ............with all these "stars" at pro camps..one not even showing his face yet.... i would have thought Golovatchev and Caruso would at least be given a last look... thought they were better than what team signed..line up is pretty shallow eh?..but alas good Antonio... onward and "forward"....

So with no season tickets I guess we won't have to live through a game by game negative critique from one of our naysayer posters.
I was impressed with some of our rookies and second year players on Sunday. Chayka looks like a season starter to me, and paired with Samorukov he'll learn quickly. Loved McFarlane's intensity, to bad he wasn't 6" taller and 20 lbs heavier. Profaca needs some seasoning, but lots of potenial and will improve with playing time.
With so many guys off to pro camps can't see our starting lineup play together for a while.

I'll see em all.. pretty much.... Mc F. hasa lion heart ..they cut better'n they kept ... interesting watching Aguanno hammering away with his stick..to no avail..

Has it gotten to the point that the only time we post is when we can ridicule another person's post. I haven't seen alot of respectful posts lately. Why can't we make our assessments of the upcoming year and our impressions of the players without being dragged through the mud with condescending remarks hurled at us. Is it beyond us to have decent conversations about our favourite team? Any and all respectful comments welcome.

Did Guelph actually play with 14 guys and still beat Mississauga? Lol
If you need some players we have a few extra that probably wouldnt mind playing time

Just think what this team can do when, everyone is back. Big pieces of the Storm are still at camps: Hillis, Hawell, Schnarr, Toropchenko, Ratcliff, Lalonde, Samorukov, Merkley and Popovich will really really make this team something else. Our young guys are giving Burnett lots to think about and the future looks much better than it has for years. Daws has performed very well in the last two games, stopping 61 of 62 shots and has solidified his spot behind Popovich. Looking forward to the home opener next Friday following Fan Fest in Market Square, FREE with your ticket.

Watched the game Saturday against Hamilton. Its good to see Daws get some great feedback, all the kids has heard is negative comments. He was always square to the shooter and did a good job of covering the lower part of the net. When he got in trouble he was quick to cover it up and stop play. I think he played well last year when given the chance but it was our defence that let him down.

Chayka looks very good as well but the person I love watching is Wooley. I love his game, he keeps it simple, plays calm in his own end with no flash. I wish we had 5 other Wooleys on our team. The kid is a class act, when he accidentally gave the Hamilton player a head check, he came over and give the kid a stick tap to say sorry. I wish more players would show that same class. If we have to make some trades down the road to get an impact player I sure hope that Wooley isn't involved because I'm sure lots of teams would covet him.

As for forwards, Poirer is still not impressing me, the kid only tries to start crap and usually we are the team that gets penalized. If there is a younger player that is pushing for a spot, I'd be inclined to drop Poirer and use the OA spot on someone more useful.

RCS in August: Win or lose, preseason games are a meaningless way to get young players into the lineup and to have players get back into game shape

RCS in October: Yep.....looks like the preseason results were meaningless again! Shocking!

RCS in September: Man, this could be the year! Everyone is in great shape and is primed for a breakout/career season.

Bertuzzi played his best game ever in a storm uniform last Saturday. He had some Fabbri-esque moments controlling the puck and was skating with more power and speed than he showed all of last year.

I feel extremely comfortable with our D corps of Merkley Samorukov Lalonde Hanley and wooley, one more pickup near the deadline if needed to secure the top 6. Could it be worth it saving the OA slot on another OA D?
With Daws having an excellent showing through the preseason only allowing a single goal we're good in net for the year unless a truly elite option somehow becomes available for a price that isn't completely ridiculous.
Forward lines will be shaping up but this team needs another top 6 player
Ratcliffe - Hillis - Schnarr/trade
Ralph - Schnarr/Kirwin - Schnarr/trade

Ideally Hawel Toropchenko Primeau and Bertuzzi will round out the bottom 6 but if one or multiple don't show enough growth it will be worth exploring another trade or two if we're going to be a contender.

This team could go either way, there's some nice young pieces that are coming along and there's lots of talent now to make a run, talent that would also net a huge return that would affect the teams immediate future thanks to the new OHL rules
