It can't be any worse than here. I can't understand for the life of me why some people on this board keep slagging Makar and say he's a crap player. So cringy when I see it. Utterly ridiculous and just childish. It's embarrassing really. Obviously they are both excellent players, the best in the world at the position and I'm sure they would both agree as well.
People like that can’t appreciate either player until after they retire or are past their prime.

Random Monday throwback

He got 5 games for that

Yep. They suck.

Don't get why people keep going "look at JT, he's a beast!" post-trade. The Rangers still suck. JT fits in perfectly with the rest of the Rangers - another guy that cheats for offense and has terrible defensive habits.
Rangers are borderline to make the PO. Lost a key h2h game vs CBJ whom they are chasing.

Ovi also lost like 1.5 years to lockouts too. This record would have been absolutely roasted and we'd be asking if he would hit 1000 had the 04/05 lockout not occurred (and he joined the league that year) and there wasn't the shortened 12/13 season.
I always bring this up, but when you era-adjust the scoring, Ovechkin passed Gretzky years ago. And I think it should be viewed that way, because both defense and goaltending have just been way, way better throughout Ovechkin's career than Gretzky's.

The amount that Ovy could have surpassed Wayne is kind of insane. He has 100 more games or so left on his contract. If he can score 40-45 more goals, he'd be at like 930-935 range. If he played those 120 games, is there 65-70 goals in there to hit 1,000? Crazy to think about that.

And now adjust it to 1979-1999 scoring rates and what is that, 1,200?

edit: Not only did Ovy pass Gretzky in adjusted goals some time ago, but so has Jagr, while Gretzky never even passed Howe...

So either he is not bright and didn't check with league/team

or

He already knew the answer, took it anyway and hoped it wouldn't get caught.

Literally every player ever caught with PEDs in any sport gives this same stock standard answer - 'whoops, I took it by accident'.

NHL all-time games played leader. Dude hung around for a very long time. Really only fell off in the last 3 seasons and, even then, the last season was the only truly terrible season.
There are other players that also play a lot of games that scored lots of goals (ie: Gartner) that I would've thought be ahead of Marleau on the list. Does he even have a 40 goals season? Still surprised that he is ranked so high and ahead of some of the best scorers in the history, despite playing some of his prime in the DPE.

**Actually Marleau did have a 44 goals season, but never broke 40 in any other years.

Never surprised by it. Especially for players coming off injury. He missed the first 1/3 of last season. Going into a contract year this season.

In the NFL, Edelman of NE tore his ACL in pre-season, then missed the entire season. Got busted for PED the following off-season for 4 games. He was going into the final year of his guaranteed money portion of his contract and Bill B. would have cut him if his production dropped. So, that was a case of a guy doing the risk/reward and ended up winning. Took his suspension and returned and helped NE win the SB that year vs the Rams IIRC. Then got another contract following that.

Probably the same type of calculation run by Ekblad. Only surprise is that he got busted at the 3/4 mark of the season. He was hurt in Jan so guessing he started using it in 2025 vs the off-season to get himself back ready for the PO to get that contract in the summer.
