columbus could get above the cap floor with poolman's contract, which i assume is insured.

They have a grace period and the league is counting the Gaudreau signing bonus so they are fine for the time being.

Can’t get a straight answer about Poolman’s contract being insured or not.

I remember reading somewhere that it was partially insured but the amount was unknown. Safe to say there’s probably a financial aspect at play in moving Poolman and not just a capspace aspect.

Probably couldn't insure it because it was too risky due to his concussion history.

It was a genius move to sign him for 4 years.

Did Wolanin even outplay Forbort? If he did it was minimal, and it's obvious Forbort is here to be a PK specialist.

Kud showed well but wasn't a slam dunk for a roster spot. It's probably a wise move for his development for him to start in the AHL and reevaluate later.

Also I doubt Forbort's spot on the team is set in stone. If he doesn't perform we have a bunch of other guys including the two we're discussing here that bump him out.
Forbort had a bad pre season game against Seattle. He's got quite few posters seething mad because of it.

Wolanin isn't any better and they need the size. Let KK learn the pro game in Abby to start.

I don't think jackets send realgud packing unless they get a top of the lineup player with term back. They need their leaders to tread water until enough time has passed. And i don't think enough time has passed for him to come back here either lol

Poolman, Forbort, Suter for Gudbranson. The deal is 3 for 1.

I think it’s a strategy move, he clearly isn’t a priority for the long term. I wonder if sending him down earlier was in hopes he doesn’t get claimed. Like we did with Markstrom back in the day.

That's my thinking. With so many players getting waived right now, I can see Allvin hoping he gets lost in the shuffle. That's my hope as well since PDG is a good depth player.

If that’s the case, best case may be finding a team either well below the cap or that will start the season in LTIR anyway that needs to send down a high AHL salary, but buryable cap hit, player. May be able to offset salaries in a way that lets a team buy a late round pick for a couple hundred thousand in net spending.

How many more cuts need to be made to get under the cap?
they can send Raty down and be compliant with the roster on puckpedia.....no waivers required. Otherwise it's Aman.

which has Poolman, Joshua and Demko on IR.

edit: Bains!!!!! gotta do something about him too.
