Rangers need to seriously consider buying out Chytil in the offseason if they can't trade him. He is made of glass and is still 25 and under so the buyout is only a third. Rangers would have another 4 mill in cap to spend upgrading the defense and/or 3C.
There are about 11 or 12 other players who deserve to be bought out before Chytil's name comes up

Didn't Edstrom play center at some point? Let him have some reps and see what we've got to work with, even if it means giving Mika more 5v5 time while we see what we have.
Theoretically Cuylle-Edstrom-KK could be a very useful line
Yeah, Rangers don't do that. If you were drafted as a W, you will play wing until the day you die (or leave the organization for a smarter one)

If they’re gonna tolerate Lindgren being injured half the time he’s under contract they might as well do it with Chytil. At least the teams better with him in the ten games he plays

Kakko should be tried at Center. He has all the tools to be a pretty good center. He has a small amount experience playing Center in Liiga. He took only 23 draws last year but was 56.5%. He has the size, strength, responsibility, among other attributes to be effective. It would open up options for how you approach potential acquisition targets.

RE: Crosby

Yes he would cost quite a bit. Retention would certainly be needed. But at 50% retained they would be able to fit him and still be able to add a veteran defenseman. They could move different salaries around. 1st, 2nd, Othmann, and another prospect to get the dialogue started. Crosby between Cuylle and Kakko would be a solid, solid line. Or Trocheck there with Crosby between Laf and Panarin.

RE: BOSTON

They are a disaster right now. It was only a matter of time. Marchand is on an expiring contract. That would be my first call. Charlie Coyle. Frederic. There are guys there that could help this group.
Maybe it’s time to think outside the box

Move Laffy to center

Panarin Laffy Cuylle
Kreider Tro Kakko
Berard Zibs Smith

You know the funny thing about these moves to center -

Pavel Buchnevich is playing center for the Blues right now. That’s kind of funny.

This would be a good strategy for a coach and GM who want to get fired and not get a new job
Or for guys who wanna win a cup instead of running a 8.5 mill 3rd line center out every night. Best way to get fired is to not win, tell me you think they'll win with Mika taking 8.5 mill and playing the way he has for the last year. Taking ice time away from him should have happened a long time ago, taking pp1 away from him is an easy one. Tell me why doing any of the things I was talking about isn't earned? He's not a top 6 center who is key to the pp anymore. I'm not sure why they continue to cater to him like he deserves all this stuff, no wonder he likes it in ny, they bend over backwards to give him whatever he wants.

The following

.. suggests an opportunity.

At a minimum, something that sends Lindgren to LI as a 1 season stopgap. We can promote Mancini to full time

But it also is an op to move Trouba b'c LI is close enuf for now and locks in close enuf next season also so he might waive

It is not likely Zib would waive, but if he did they wanna dump even worse full toast Pageau 2 seasons at 5 per

Him and Pasta are probably the only ones they would never trade
....
you would think that but thread posts suggests the ? is being entertained

real life?
maybe if return is high enuf, and that = another set of what is too much?

You dont scratch a proven PPG center. No matter how loud emotional fans on a internet forum get.
All we can do is hope that he will get his shit together because we wont win shit unless he finds his game again. And I dont mean just points. I want him to drive play like Chytil does. Its in him, we have seen it.

He’s not getting first line minutes any more. Coaches don’t make knee jerk reactions. Next will be PP1 time if PP1 has and extended period of failure.

1, Kakko isn't fast enough to play center. otherwise 100% agree.
2. Pittsburg isnt moving crosby, and he's not waiving. They're absolutely not moving him intradivision.

Pet peeve of mine since I lived there for two years and they have one of the more successful hockey teams, it's Pittsburgh not Pittsburg.

Hitting a paywall. Any help here?

Wait let me see if I can guess.

“Miller = lazy
Locker room imploding due to splitting Lindgren/ Fox, and Mika not getting enough minutes.
Jones getting pp2 time a slap in the face to miller, who deserves to be traded.
Why Lavi is the worst coach we have had since the rebuild and gallant is the answer”

By esteemed hhof writer Larry Brooks

Edit : sorry forgot “ why drury deserves to be fired for not calling up rempe to fill that 3c role”

Now that Chytil has seemingly avoided the worst, we can go back to trading K'Andre Miller for a defenseman who can actually defend and hit's players who arent his teammates. The guy hasnt been the same since he spit on Doughty.

And now we’re back to these takes.

Somehow miller is consistently one of our better defenseman while a vocal portion of our fan base wants him gone.
I wonder what about miller really makes people ignore his actual play, while also ignoring his metrics.

Him being "one of our better defenseman" is only true if you're comparing him to Trouba and Lindgren(who should both also be on their way out). Fox, Jones & Schneider have all significantly outplayed Miller, and Miller himself only looks good paired with Adam Fox.

yeah it's hilarious to say that our top priority should be splitting up the 3rd best pairing in the NHL to "get someone who can play defense". because the rest of our defense isn't a complete disaster or anything (except for Zac Jones, he rules).

Seems with Miller-Fox and Jones-Schneider we have two pairs doing ok. I don't have the fancy stats handy. It's what should be our third pair that's a concern.

both of those pairings have outstanding metrics. so much would be fixed just by limiting the ice time of the Lindgren-Trouba pair.

Even the Lindgren Trouba pair has been on the positive side in the past two games.
The sample size is small but they are playing decent.
