They need to roll with this:

DeBrusk-Miller-Boeser
Hoglander-Pettersson-Lekkerimaki
Sherwood-Blueger-Garland
Joshua-Suter-Heinen

And move Joshua up when he's ready.

But they won't.
Debrusk -Miller - Boeser
Hog - Petterson - Suter
Joshua - Raty - Garland
Heinen - Bluegar - Sherwood

Basically we’ll have two above average 3rd lines. Garland and Joshua should be together and it doesn’t really matter who is in the middle.

Trade for that reliable RHS 4C and trade for a top 4 D as soon as humanly possible

Feels like management should be trying to push lesser players down the line up instead of up.

We need to find another top 4D sooner than later here, and then use the deadline to find a another six forward.

They should continue to be proactive, I would look at Buffalo

Every time there's a tough loss, the chorus will grow for the Canucks to something about their blueline. But I suspect Allvin will be patient, and I don't see anything happening until well into the New Year.

A big part of the problem is that there's just nothing out there right now. We're less than 20 games in, and a lot of mediocre teams are still hanging around the playoff bar. Until they fall out of it completely, they're not going to be trading away some of their better d-man.

I think Allvin and the Canucks have a pretty good idea of who will shake loose. And probably have prioritized the two or three guys they'd like to go after. And slowly but steadily they're building up the cap space to make a significant 'add' on the blueline.

So the current group is bound to struggle at times......but probably won't be the blueline they go into the playoffs with.

There is no choice but to be patient, we don’t have cap.

The D market seems terrible right now with a lot of middling teams still in it or evaluating. Byram is reported to be currently off the market and I'm not sure about Samuelsson. LA is doing surprising well and seems likely to keep Gavrikov for a run.

Marcus Pettersson is the obvious rental name that would shake out sooner. Or a surprise young D like Jiricek who might be jerked around by their team.

The team seems too excited by Lekkerimaki to have him on any trade table right now. Willander should also be untouchable.

Exactly this. The market is just bad right now. Canucks main trade chips (excluding Willander & Lekkerimaki) are Hoglander, Silovs, their 1sts & 2nds, and a bunch do B & C tier prospects (Pettersson, Kudryavtsev, Bains, Raty, McWard, Klimovich, and Mynio).

Samuelsson and Jokiharhu have been healthy scratched for a few games in a row now. They have Bryson and Gilbert playing ahead of them. Dangle Hoglander but without Boeser, the forward depth looks pretty weak.

Samuelsson has a lot of salary and term I'd be cautious about, especially when he's been an IR mainstay for the past few seasons. The upside for Jokiharju is pretty low to dangle Hoglander for, I'd wait for a legitimate top 4 option and if necessary include him in a competitive trade package.

I wonder if you can pry Kovacevic out of NJ like right now. They’ve got similar dman like Pesce, Dillon, and Sieganthaler (who’s been kinda trash) and probably would like Casey up there considering he’s basically just toying with competition down in the AHL while not looking out of place at all while up with NJ earlier.

@bossram ik you follow NJ, would NJ move him if a team offers say a 2nd + 3rd? His $0.776K contract probably makes him extremely valuable.

I also have no issues moving a prospect like Raty for a top 4 dman FWIW.

I know he doesn't qualify as a veteran.....but rumor has that Arber Xhekaj has been on block in Montreal for some time.

He has the size that Allvin seems to value at 6'4" and 240 and still only 23. Watched on the weekend in the Habs-Leafs game, but nothing stood out in a negative way, Is he really that bad?

I guess it's not a good sign if the lowly Habs want to move him.

Zero chance. Why would a top 2 team in the EC trade a young RHD who earns league min while playing hard top 4 minutes....including top PK toi? They'd ask for Willander if we called about Kavacevic.

Maybe he's too much of a loose cannon? Maybe the refs are keying on every single little thing he does? I'd be happy to have him, he'd give us some of that Zadarov pushback that we've been missing.

NJ has played the most amount of games in the league and have had trouble winning games against playoff teams.

Kovacevic was playing top 4 minutes briefly until Pesce came back. Since then he plays about 18-19 mins, roughly sharing the same amount of minutes as Dillon and Hughes , with Hamilton, Pesce, and Sieganthaler playing much more minutes.

And no they would not “ask” for Willander.

I don’t see any scenario where the Nucks have the combination of cap and resources to trade for a legit Top 4 dman.

Doubt they give up Willander or Lekk.

2025 1st could be available but only in the absolute right circumstance.

The rest of the trade assets are not blue chip in the slightest.

Cap space is accruing but minimal.

Mgmt is unlikely to trade anyone of significance off the roster. Possibly Hoglander but would not deem him significant.

Too little sellers compared to buyers.

Other teams have more desirable assets.

So much like a Zadorov, going to have to target someone who has their perceived warts who you hope can flourish in Tocchet’s system.

They likely thought that of Desharnais but it has not worked out that way so far.
