Ahh the ignorance of youth...I would bet the Canucks over the field. And I think management and perhaps more importantly ownership would, too, therefore I don't see punting as a realistic option despite it likely being the wisest course of action. I think they'll stick with their plan of continuing to add/improve with every transaction and hope for the best.
Canucks were rumoured to be interested in Dawson Mercer. He's pretty much fully converted to wing, though. Then again, given the way Miller's played at centre their might not be much of a drop off. There's lots of interesting pieces in New Jersey and they can part with them without losing out.
Underrated aspect is what Dhaliwal said, Rangers don't want the Devils to get Miller. All it takes for a bidding war is another team.
Yeah, I was thinking a package around Mercer and Nemec would be appealing. Canucks wanted a C apparently, which Mercer has played - wonder if he could go back to it in the right circumstance.
As for the Rangers - I just don't think they want to part with the things that the Canucks would be interested in.
Mercer also makes sense because:Yeah, I was thinking a package around Mercer and Nemec would be appealing. Canucks wanted a C apparently, which Mercer has played - wonder if he could go back to it in the right circumstance.

Which reminds me, it's probably time to move Miller to wing anyway?Canucks were rumoured to be interested in Dawson Mercer. He's pretty much fully converted to wing, though. I’m sold. Send Miller for a 7th.This talk of the NJ Devils..
- Quinn Hughes is sick of Miller's attitude.
- Miller traded to the NJ Devils.
- Miller feuds with Hughes bros.
- Canucks collect all of the Hughes triplets.
- Cup.
it flatters them. The glass half empty take is that since November 7 the Canucks are 28th in score adjusted CF% and 27th in xGF%. Their record over the past 30+ games probably hasn’t been unfair to them.
Meier is NJ's version of Zibby.i don't think mercer is likely to be available in a deal for miller and i'm not sold on nemec as a future impact player either but maybe there's a deal to be made around meier? he's got a similar contract to miller but fits better on this roster both position wise and age wise. maybe the canucks could talk the devils into including casey or silayev in the deal too
I would take a long look at Meier if Nemec was in a package. Underlying stats are very good.Meier is NJ's version of Zibby.
No thanks.
The team has been linked to Dawson Mercer in the past too, but I’m not sure how you even that out.
I want a defenseman from NJ.Mercer and Palat for Miller + 2MM player (Heinen/Desharnais) is dead even money-wise. Maybe you can retain Palat to 4MM x 2 and flip for a pick at the deadline too if you dont think he fits into the plans.
Problem with Mercer is really just that he does not project as a C long term.
Meier is NJ's version of Zibby.
No thanks.
In true Canucks fashion, the third part will only happen after Quinn leaves to join his brothers and BFF.Miller is going to go to NJ, stop playing like a little bitch, and win the cup.
Likely not but one can hope. This is the fantasy thread after all!meier is definitely a distressed asset but so is miller. canucks aren't gonna get a good roster player, a good prospect and a first
