This feels worse than the Benning era because at least we had 20 year old star players that gave us hope for a better future.

Now those players are 25-28, and apart from Hughes they didn't live up to their early career performance. The room feels more disjointed than ever. Management have collectively lost the plot, again, by making poor off-season decisions.

And on top of all of this, we have the OEL cap hit set to hit $5 million for the next two seasons. It's done. Just f***ing tear it down, trade off the good value contracts for picks, move Boeser and Demko for whatever you can get for them, get Miller the f*** off this team, and try to plan for a future without Quinn Hughes because there's a very high chance he is counting down the days until he can go play with his brothers.

We got teased with one good year and it was right back to a dysfunctional shitshow again.

Dallas is the team to target for a Miller trade.

Lots of cap space. Robertson hasn't looked the same since Pavelski retired, Seguin is out and they have a ton of cap space.

People are out to lunch. GM's would line up for Miller.

$1,004,754 <-- that's a lot?

Add in that Dallas prospect system has become very shallow.

Bruce has mentioned Tanner Pearson was also a common ground between Petey and Miller

Bo and Schenn are the two best people to be around in that room. When they’re gone it will only get more toxic - Farhan Dec 13, 2022

Management been ignoring the issue for a while now obviously that others could see coming.

Only speculation but I also feel like Zadorov was a key to their success as well.

I feel like maybe Ian Cole and possibly Zadorov as well, were two respected veterans in the room that the team is sorely missing right now. Not to mention their on ice contributions.

zadorov only brings rooms together by giving everyone a single person to dislike

You think Zadorov was disliked? Or am I missing something.

i think the same things that make him popular with the fans (his big personality, his candidness) make him very unpopular with his teammates. i don't think he was in vancouver long enough to really wear on the team but i think very few people in the calgary and colorado dressing rooms were sad to see him go

Maybe you’re right, but I saw a guy that stuck up for teammates and was a big physical presence on the ice. That’s something they’re sorely lacking right now.

Avs fans not happy with Mitts.

Apparently he has not been good.

Wonder if that could be a destination for Miller.

Mitts + Ritchie for JT?
I remember a lot of Canuck fans wanting him over Petey. Cody Glass will most likely be a UFA at seasons end as well (probably). Could they run that as their 3 centers next year while tanking? 2026 draft full of studs a top the draft.

No it doesn’t. The Benning era was the worst period in franchise history, we were an unmitigated disaster and the joke of the league.

Horrible defensive centre, no thanks.

This team has no real leaders and it's asking a lot from Quinn Hughes to mend the dressing room. Someone like Ian Cole played for multiple cup winning teams and has been around the league since 2010. Same deal with Luke Schenn who had to endure a crazy amount of media criticism and hardship during his Toronto days. The "Benning stink" has seriously impacted the guys who should have developed into leaders. They have loser traits and a loser mindset.

You wonder if it may be worth it to bring back guys like Alec Martinez and Ian Cole who can at least play well in a depth role and provide a decent amount of experience.

Signing guys like Forbort, Desharnais, Heinen and Sprong was such a massive mistake.

So the exact same as Miller.

Should be holding the fort, selling some UFAs, and looking to fix things in the summer. Only other consideration, though, is maybe you throw Hughes a bone and try to add some type of defensive depth that isn't too expensive (if that exists, though there have been a few depth defensemen traded so far for reasonable prices).

I would trade Miller asap if he keeps performing like last night, team needs to know that kind of effort has consequences.

I've heard the coaching staff speak many times about how great of a guy he was in the locker room and that he is very well liked. I don't know why you are starting this.
