Their contracts were ending. When else were they supposed to sign them?

don't sign them?

is there a rule that a GM can't trade kuzmenko?

Its not even a hot take. Drance and others was on the radio like banging on the drums that the canucks should monetize the asset of Kuzmenko during his 39 goal season.

certainly looks like thats the smarter thing to do then sign him and somehow expect an offensive forward who doesnt like playing defense to work well with Tocchet who can't stand forwards like that.

Its the same thing with Hoglander.

why the hell did we extend him to 3x3m? now I doubt he has much value.

Petterson fan boys shocked that even the management has soured on him.

People have been villainizing JT for months just to find out the management is just as sick of EP 40’s antics.

Amazing to see. Lmao

Last year: “This team is further along than we expected”
This year: “Team is nowhere near what it needs to be”

Up and down like a yoyo.

Mgmt not looking so hot right now.

Problem is with each passing day it gets worse.

It’s exhausting. For everyone.

They did this with Horvat and nothing changed. They picked Miller. Didn't matter.

Miller is what he is. He is always going to cause problems with his teammates. To appease him again and expect otherwise is foolish.

Yes, I expect he'll still be moved, probably in the summer. But I do think if they trade Pettersson, they will have some optionality on the Miller trade, and may in the interim change messaging a bit to see if they can move away from vulture offers from the Rangers.

Part ways with Pettersson, Miller, Boeser. Enough.

Part ways with Tocchet.

Keep Hughes, Sherwood and Garland and give those 2 the A's.

At that point, it becomes a question of how we prefer to lose Hughes - him walking to UFA, or trading him, because that would just ensure he's out of here.

If both get traded I’m not sure how you can have any confidence in this management group going forward. It’s basically an admission they’ve screwed up the past few years.

Imagine being handed Miller, Petterson and Horvat and within 2 years turning it into Suter, Blueger and f*** knows.

Takes like these are why we have the reputation we do as a fanbase.
Doesn't make it wrong

While I agree Horvat was a classy guy, I’m not sure I buy the narrative that Miller is a bad teammate. I suspect there’s more to the situation / story than we know - he obviously has a lot of people that admire and love him, but something has gone seriously sideways this year. We may never know the extent of it, or it may take a while to come out - but I just don’t think it’s as simple as he’s a toxic guy or bad teammate.

I think we could be seeing miller experiencing emotional burnout. Operating as he has for several years peak emotion and then whatever happened before his LOA could have snapped him out of it - then exhaustion and this is the lull that comes after. Just a thought.

As an aside what's interesting is that while not caring enough to point at specific people nor do I even remember but a general undertone for a couple years has been why we can't manage like Vegas does they want what they want and they going they get it. Part of that is truly running it like a business and while people are people in this sense you treat them like assets to your company and what is Expendable is expendable. Now I'm seeing backlash on things being reported and how players are going to feel and all of these types of things but is this not essentially how Vegas runs and how much love they got for doing it Cutthroat business approach?
