50% retained Rantanen is just a straight up way better deal to make than acquiring EP or JT. Can’t fault management for not having an asset as valuable as Rantanen available to trade.
They’ve had months to trade Miller.

He should have been gone when he was out on leave.

They waited to long and look like idiots because Colorado came barging in since they knew they weren’t going to re-sign Rantanen.

Now they have to scramble.

I'm a Canucks, Jays and 49ers fan the last 30 years have some finals heart breaks no wins. Your not alone in your suffering.
Rough bud. Raiders for me and Spurs (EPL), both miserable. But also… Dodgers. I tell ya, it spoils other fandom.

But Canucks are always #1 in my heart. Well, looks like we'll just have to soldier on. Good for Carolina, huge deal for them.

imagine if the canes get JT for Kotkaniemi + roslovic + 1st now

Svechnikov - Aho - Rantanen
Hall - Miller - Jarvis
Martinook - Staal - XXXXX
Allvin and Rutherford would look so dumb if they tried to get Necas for Miller, failed, and then settled for a package of spare parts instead.

Wait until Rantanen re-signs/signs.

Pettersson bouncing back to his previous 400~ game form flips this narrative.
We'll see, but Pettersson is just below a PPG player in his 448 game career, and that's with one season of 102 points in 80 games. They need more than his previous form to justify $11.6 million.

This is purely speculative and we have no idea what kind of negotiations have been going on in the background. We also have no clue about the nature of Miller's leave and what the supposed breaking point was that made management set on trading him or Pettersson.

Spurs are garbage so that’s unfortunate.

Least as a Raiders fan you have 73yr old Pete Carroll to look forward to.
