Bruce also got some things wrong in that interview. I'm not sure how much he actually remembers. At one point he says this

"Like, when he [Petterson] was getting 100 points the year with me, he was playing the wing with Miller and Boeser, or he was playing the wing with [Bo] Horvat."

I don't remember Petterson spending any time playing with Horvat...

Quite a few different linemates for EP40 that year, but he did play some time with Horvat.

Petterson's linemates in 2021/2022.

One thing I strongly disagreed with Dhaliwal's interview today was the "if you don't want to be here, why sign the contracts?" thing

uh.. as an agent, i would absolutely tell my player to take a fair big money offer every time. you can sort out an exit quietly pretty soon after if need be.

there's 56 and 93 million reasons why they signed those deals lmao. what isn't guaranteed is what's out there come july 1, or if you are getting traded to a worse situation, or a career ending injury. signing those deals guarantees you money and the veto power on any deal.
haha I'm old enough to remember when he wouldn't engage with the team on a new contract....dragged Elliott to Stockholm for the big HNIC segment to discuss why he was in no hurry to sign an extension.....wanted to play for a winner.....and then he got Rutherforded. The way he's playing his current hand, he might get Rutherforded again.

Well it looks like sports analysts really ate up Friedman's spitballing at the wall. Yesterday after hearing Friedman make his bogus Pettersson to Buffalo proposal, a bunch of other writers and analysts started to Twitter, post, write about ALL of the trade activity that's going on with the Canucks. How the Canucks are near acquiring the top 4 they were looking for. That there is a good chance of the Canucks making a significant trade before the holiday deadline. A deal is in place that is far greater than just Desharnais. I'm starting to wonder if all these insiders ate up the bullshit Friedman threw down 2 days a go regarding a potential Pettersson trade. Very, very quiet today considering the Canucks were apparently so close to a deal.

Who knows, hopefully I am wrong but this all seems like BS to me. I guess we will officially find out at 11:59pm tonight.

It's probably all BS and then after the holidays they'll suddenly announce a trade that none of the "insiders" had on their radar at all.

I am beyond caring about the blow-by-blow on a junior high-ass feud between two star players being paid millions to do a job. If these two LITERALLY GROWN-ASS MEN can't ****ing talk it out and get back to work, then wtf are we even doing here?
It's weird that the entire fanbase is picking a side here, I'm kind of tired of both of them.

Last few pages are a decent outline why Buffalo & Van are such good trade partners, and why it increasingly seems as if something is going to happen sooner or later ..

Sabres just got a good 3C, have two 2Cs, no actual defenders and too many pmd.

Canucks have two 1Cs, too many semi redundant giant defensemen, and only one pmd (&brannchise).

We're only good partners in a Pettersson deal. Miller has a full NMC, and unless he hates Pettersson with every fiber of his being, I can't imagine there's any scenario he even considers waiving for the disaster that is Buffalo.

Which leaves us trading the younger asset. While I like Byram, he's nowhere close to the player Pettersson is. Nor does adding Cozen bridge that gap.

yeahhh that's the point..and what all the smoke is about.

I'd like to trade ep for the both of them, makes tons of sense in multiple ways, and makes both teams better.

Others may disagree idc, some seem to still love ep for whatever reasons that makes sense to them.

Practically no chance anything so big actually happens so it doesn't really matter but while there's smoke it's fun to talk about the potential deals.

I don't agree there was ever a Horvat issue. Bo may have been caught between the two, but he always seemed to be a solid dressing-room guy. I could use him doing some post-game interviews right at this moment, actually.

horvat's problem was that he was everyone's friend. the team at that time needed someone who could get everyone pulling in the same direction even if it meant cracking the whip

Everyone wants to snag a minor piece for free from Barry Benning Trotz, I'd rather try to Pollock him.

I'd be trying to trade Miller to NSH for two firsts and a roster piece, and I'd be fine with him wanting to push them to the '26 and '27 drafts. One of those will be a top 5 pick.

I think Trotz would go for it.

I've been on and still am on the commit to the current Hughes contract window train and this wouldn't be about rebuilding, we'd have to turn around and fairly quickly trade a bunch of futures for win now pieces to compensate but an opportunity/stupidity of apparent magnitude like this doesn't come up often.

It's weird that the entire fanbase is picking a side here, I'm kind of tired of both of them.
Can't trade both of them and every star but not superstar has their warts. There's an enormous amount of grass is greener going on right now with the people who want to trade these guys, incl. all of these Buf proposals.

Just trade everyone and rebuild again.

It's not like the ticket prices and attendance numbers would drop.

Allvin really fooked up letting Cole and Zadorov go. Not only would their veteran presence be good to calm this team down in this rut but I bet they would of put a stop to these star player locker room interactions aswell. Bringing back Myers and Desharnais to fill Zadorovs void is really starting to hurt this team. A huge miss on Alvin's part this past offseason.
