It's "my take"

Early in the year Hughes was looking off Pettersson. Wouldn't pass to him on the PP.

Boeser has made comments about how happy he was to be back with Miller after playing with Pettersson.

Neither are central to my opinion or a big deal but add to the divisions that exist in usage and personnel and how they co exist on ice. I also feel Hoglander not getting a fair shake with Pettersson is likely a bit of a tender subject between the 2 good friends

"Attitude towards coaches" is the lack of response. The weekend no shows and having to be called out "Petey Petey Petey" "4or 5 no shows" " the injury presser at seasons end and having to field constant questions while not getting a consistent effort and now being pulled off the PP.

I mean something is at play no?

My general feeling is that pretty much all levels of the organization from management -> coaches -> players are done with Pettersson’s act and compete level over the past 18 months and he’s increasingly isolated on the team.

Like you say, Boeser’s reaction and body language toward Miller being back were eye-opening.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but haven't Boeser and Pettersson spent a fair bit of time together away from work? It may have been a while ago and doesn't guarantee they're close now, but it would at least be surprising if Boeser wanted nothing to do with him today.

Theres definitely something.

Miller has been a "hot head" and/or "crybaby" for a long time. Rags posters and Tampa posters have confirmed this many times if you go back through their JT miller threads on their boards.

Something in the room is rotten and I'm honestly not sure what. whether it be petey or miller.

I honestly believe losing a player like Tanev has really hurt the locker room substantially.

By second contract I'm assuming you mean the one he just signed, not the bridge deal he signed with Benning.

I mentioned that a franchise player that does not re-sign in the offseason throws up a red flag. That was the first indication. We are both referencing this point as the first point of uncertainty.
No, the 3 year bridge deal when Hughes sign for 7 years and he signed for 3.
This last one had the Freidman interview in Sweden.
He has always said he wanted to be the best and he wanted to play in the playoffs, in 7 years he has had two shots, one they were gifted a chance and last year.

When the room had Linden and Messier they fixed the rift by moving one.

There’s just no one on this current team close to Schenn’s stature and veteran presence to do that, and maybe that’s something the room needs again.

They need it desperately. Miller is not someone I would leave unchecked and I definitely wouldn't leave it to the room to police itself when he is a dominant voice in it.

There's a difference between showing emotion and being a leader.

I think it was underrated what someone like Ian Cole can do to a room. They listened when he spoke, especially with his cup pedigree and dogged nature. It didn’t help losing Cole/Zadorov, two bigger personalities who would speak up, and not replacing them.

Zadorov could do that. Miller can intimidate players with his overwhelming personality and physical presence but not another alpha male that is bigger than him.

This team is starting to look like the Messier Keenan type team. Or in this case maybe Tocchet type players and Tocchet.

Yeah, the general perception has always been that Pettersson and Boeser were quite close.

This is why my eyebrows went up when you had a smiling, relaxed Boeser gushing about Miller’s return. Either the ‘feud’ is greatly exaggerated or the loyalties in the room aren’t what was previously thought. It didn’t come across at all that Boeser was on the other side of the room from Miller.

The Canucks brought in a coach specific to get through to Miller. A coach that now wants Petey to play like Miller. Tanev was quite, he liked to stir shit up then watch. At least Schenn would put Miller in his place.

Boeser doesn’t seem like the type to “choose” a side, all this speculation is wild because no one knows what’s actually going on in the room. Boeser seemed fed up with miller last night.

Miller has been traded off two teams that had enough of his attitude, not sure how he’s getting a free pass and everything is Peteys fault here

Re Boeser: 2 different interviews had me raise a brow recently. Not so much how he supported Miller but just how dismissive he was of the possibility him and 40 could be the new norm and of how much back playing with Miller meant to him.

I wouldn't say done but the injury excuse has to have worn out. The back to back weekend no shows had Tocchet lose his composure even which i'm sure he regrets now that the market has made this the talk of town.

Thanks for the response. I guess we see it a bit differently. For one, I highly doubt that QH is purposefully not passing to EP out of spite. Also, I can't imagine Brock saying anything else (not really out ordinary, IMO)

The coaching thing is definitely weird. I see it as Tocc's attitude towards EP, rather than the other way around. I think that Tocc would choose JT over EP. They are similar players.
Well he was purposefully not passing to him. As far as spite i doubt that was the intention. I never suggested that just how our QB wouldn't pass to our top paid player and that had to be awkward to some degree between the 2

It's not but there is reports that all is not well and it would be burying your head in the sand to think it doesn't have something to do with the top players and coaches not all being harmonious.

I would posit that in general, not just with Boeser - you can have one guy (person A) be good friends with two people (people B and C) even if B and C hate each other's guts.

Boeser has always seemed like a pretty affable, laid back guy who it's almost impossible to dislike. And in turn, he seems to like pretty much everyone.

Also, I was actually thinking of Luke Schenn and his argument with Miller earlier.

I remember the Canucks in the early 2000s saying one of the reasons they brought Brad May in was to be a character and veteran presence in the dressing room, and that he got along especially well with Bertuzzi - who in a lot of ways, was kind of prickly and intense like Miller is.

Schenn's contract is a bit prohibitive, but maybe Nashville would retain salary. But either way, having a character vet come in who could help keep things calm wouldn't hurt.

Hoglander is going to be scratched and some might speculate he’ll be traded but nothing will happen tonight or in general until late January, confirmed

they brought in Tocchet because he's a really good coach.
Really? What was his record before getting here?

How many trade requests by players on his teams?

I will put the coaching numbers down.
He was head coach for 438 NHL games and won 178 games a .406 win percentage.

While with those teams no less than 5 players requested a trade.

Your Mother's House.
I dgaf. Give me a team of Millers over a team of EPs.

I've had it with EP and his mopey, underperforming BS. Constantly trying to find this guy wingers....

Dude you're being paid like a premier player in the league. You're being paid to perform at a high level and take over games and you never do. f*** off already.

I wish we used his money to sign Zadorov and Lindholm.

The bridge was the first indication he didn't want to be here? I thought it was pretty clear it was because Benning mismanaged the cap. Same reason Hughes re-signed for 6 years instead of 8 years.

Every high end player wants to be the best and win. Did you want him to say that he likes losing?

Pretty much. And why wouldn't Boeser be happy to play with Miller? They bring out the best in each other. Boeser looked lost without Miller, just as Miller looked lost without Boeser. So what? They've played together a lot the last few years and have good chemistry.
