anytime the canes are the front runner name in a trade is worrying. they opportunistically chase distressed assets.

hopefully they are just driving up the market price for their rivals.
Kotkaniemi is constantly coming up in any trade talks with Carolina. They seem to really want him for whatever reason. Have no idea why.

Why hold this press conference just to say you're not going to comment on stuff and "have a good team if things go right". wtf.
exactly, might as well cancel the conference and actually work on the deals.

I wouldn't say I've lost faith but it's bizarre to me how they can go from superb last year to just inept and bungling this year.

Transaction-wise they really only made one significant mistake which was allocating money to Heinen/Desharnais instead of a 2nd pairing D (Zadorov or other), and even Heinen has still been perfectly fine value in a vacuum. The Lankinen, Sherwood, Debrusk signings have all been solid to excellent, and Forbort has been good since his return.

The one big mistake they made was calling Miller's absence a 'personal leave' instead of saying it was for an upper-body injury which turned a smoldering internal situation into a total media circus.

AI probably would've gives us a more interesting interview. Sheesh.

Seems like Alvin believes the team might actually be BUYERS at the TDL. Talks about parity and the Canucks not being fully healthy yet.

“When everything goes right, this team is a playoff team”

When does everything go right for any team? This could easily be a quote from Benning and I’d be fooled.

If only Edmonton had another horrendous start and Vegas had multiple injuries to their top 6/blueline while we didn't regress to the mean!

Why did they call this conference? Legitimately saying nothing other than a whole lot of Benning answers with injuries and "if only we were healthy we'd be a playoff team."

I think Allvin is sort of trying to communicate they have faith in the guys in the room and give them credit for tuning out the noise (in turn sort of inferring he's not trying to trade anybody), but in true Allvin fashion, he's couching all his words and saying basically nothing. I assume the former was the proposed purpose of this presser, but it's not really coming across.

Probably because he was getting ripped for being MIA since the interview where he shit talked Petey. Now he can tick the box and go back behind the curtain for a month.

I mean, they're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Someone literally just started a thread here calling them out for being MIA.

I'll take them doing this and being available and giving corporate answers all day every day over Jim Benning hiding (or being hidden) from the media all year and then doing his annual PR disaster.

pattersson asking the real questions lack of puck moving d
and alvin just says ....ughhhhhhhh

Yeah Patterson asked some real questions and Alvin just did the matrix & dodged them all.

Alvin: "I want us to play winning hockey, even if we aren't getting a lot of shots as long as we win it's all good, the fans deserve that."

Patterson: "Yeah, but they aren't winning at homes for the fans."

Alvin: "Uhhhh..."

Dude looks like Tyler Myers out there running circles in his own end right now getting nothing done. At least he doesn't sound as stupid as Benning, even if the content is the same.

I think it's obvious what he's trying to do here, I don't think he's doing a very good job of it, though.
