IIHF refs are always such a joke. Pillu deserved his 2+2 though. Dirty retaliation. But how did the refs not blow the whistle on the tackle on Phisltrom?

What a joke of referees.

I dont know what tackle you saw? I saw pro wrestling throw...

Ok after 5 periods i will now say it.

Jussi Jokinen should be thrown away from Barkov's line, he is absolutely useless. He seems to be slowing down the line, gives horrible passes and does absolutely nothing. Maybe switch Jokinen with Aho, Aho is definitely someone who can play with Barkov and Laine, and Jokinen fits well to play with Granlund and Koivu because of his slow mind.

Also Hietanen shoots too much on PP, Laine was ****ing open and this idiot shoots it in the first player.

Dear god I hope Jalonen is saving his big guns for the important games. Nothing else explains the lack of Laine and Barkov on the ice.

Weird call. First no call on a clear holding by Holzer. Then Pihlström with a clear interference call. Then Holzer loses his mind while Pihlström does nothing and for some reason the Germans get the PP.

Pihlström tried to take his head off, I'd hardly call that nothing.

How on Earth did not Holzer not get a penalty on that initial situation? Not saying Pihlström shouldn't have kept his cool.

And JC Saukkonen is so out of it, misses half the situation and in the end I had to check the penalties from the IIHF site. Learn your goddamn job.

Tried to cross check his head? Disagreed, his head is higher than on the board-glass connection level. He was going for body, if you think Pihlström would try to crosscheck on head you're clueless about this player. Maybe J. Ruutu.

Regardless of what body part he was targeting, Holzer was in a vulnerable position and the puck was nowhere near him.

Philström went for the hit when the puck was miles away. How is that not a penalty?

It was clear penalty, but it wouldn't have happened in the first place if the ref had done his job by giving Holzer penalty from that blatant holding. Bottom line Philström should have kept his cool.

So Barkov is not winning a single faceoff in this tournament? Also he wasted prime scoring chance from Granlund and his passes are off.

Pihlström tried to take his head off, I'd hardly call that nothing.

I called it clear interference. It wasn't a dangerous hit.

Edit: I meant that Pihlström didn't do anything to provoke that kind of retaliation.

Finally some common sense. You got it right.

I think the refs made a mistake by not calling the holding, but after the whole scene was through, the final decision is fair. Pillu, wtf....

Wow are you soon done with that Pihlström talk? Normal referee work in IIHF tournaments, get over it.

It's still a mystery to me how no team was willing to spend a late round draft pick on Kahun after his great performance at the World Juniors in 2014. He's got the vision, hands and passing skills to be a top six forward and power play specialist, maybe even at the NHL level in the future. I hope some team signs him, even if he would start in the AHL or stay a year in the DEL.

I liked Holzer not hitting and the situation de-fusing like it really was two guys at a weenie kiosk suddenly remembering they're both reasonable human beings. Ok to let him off lightly (if it was that in the end, by the rulebook).

I don't know what the right penalty would have been, but it was a gutless move by Pihlström. Gets outmuscled by Holzer and loses his ****. Idiot.

Outmuscled sure, but if a two handed takedown like that is not an interference or a holding penalty, I don't know what is. Especially when a referee is literally standing five meters from the play and looking straight at them. After that Pihlström took a glance at the referee, saw there was no penalty and went for retaliation. Sure that warrants a minor penalty, but the whole incident wouldn't have happened if the referee wasn't so blatantly blind. What a joke the whole incident was.

That look on Pillu's face when he saw he was about to get punched...

Yes, like that horrible pass to Komarov's goal :sarcasm:

I agree with this. Holzer clearly should have gotten a minor for his initial "defensive play" on Pihlström and Germany should not have had a power play.

I am not sure what surprised me more. The non call on Holzer or the fact that Germany actually did something on the ensuing power play.

Barkov laine not on ice for first 3shifts. We take penalty and lose momentum. Seriously. Let the best players play ffs
