GDT: Group B - May 20 - Sweden vs Latvia

We never had a chance? It was literally a tied game 30 seconds before the final whistle

The Swedish and their logic

we had alot more shots and time with the puck than you guys, but yes you had a chance, you played a good game. but you cant deny that lundqvist is terrible atm, with markstrom in net i think it would have ended 5-2 or 5-3

good game by latvia. but fact is, latvia only beat sweden ONE time, sweden always win against latvia no matter how bad we play.

but when will the swe coaches and swedish people understand that lundqvist is terrible? we are gonna loose in qf if he plays. markstrom is much better. heck lundqvist should bench himself, he should understand that.
If a player ever understood that himself I think it would be Lundqvist actually.

On the other hand Markström haven’t seen many pucks here, who knows his state would be because hasn’t spent much time between pipes.

yeah latvia is missing alot of players. i think if latvia had their best possible team they could reach semifinals
Sadly this will never happen because it requires so many lucky circumstances it’s not possible. That’s also why it never happened.

If we ever get our youth participation level close to , lets say, Switzerland, we would probably get more bang for the buck in terms of quality players than most teams.

Which is pretty much what we’ve been saying on here that Markström should’ve gotten more games already and that Lundqvist by no means should’ve been considered the bonafide starter going in to the tournament which it appears he was.

Sure, but Gudlevskis let in a couple of softies as well. You just tried winning us by not giving your best effort and that's what you get when facing such a scrappy proud little team.

I hope the stars will align and we'll at least have a dream team for the 2021 World Champs in Riga

I know, I also dont understand Grönborg here. I said this before this tournament even started that Henrik will be clear n. 1 here based on his past glory and even if Markström starts it’s on 99% Lundqvist as goalie in QF. He may still show perfect games but he is obviously more vulnerable to softies.

Just some light bruising for being a little ****
A team being coached by Bob Hartley isn't going to earn much respect in terms of how one should act. Pettersson doing that was probably more than justified. Didn't do it for no reason. Less than a year ago, you stood for one of the most embarassing displays i've seen at the international top level. Only strengthens the whole point.

No idea what you're talking about. When a kid is being cocky and giving these stares at the whole bench, the umwritten rule of hockey ethics dictates that a light punch to his face or a nice hefty hit is warranted.

Don't be such a p***y

Petersson is skilled but waay to full of himself. He has a rude awakening in NHL if he ever pulls shit like that there.

Maybe that's how things work in the baltics. Your team should chat less shit on the ice, and then stop crying when it backfires. Besides, it's not like he skated by the whole far side bench like that clown of yours did.

I'm talking about the quarter finals last year. Short-term memory? The amount of embellishment and cynical hockey being played was at an all time low that time.

I think Markström will put on a clinic, as I suspect Sweden will be heavily outshot and that’s kinda what he’s used to in Vancouver. Forcing Grönborg to start him for the remainder of the tournament.

The absolute state of Swedish hockey fans

I think you're confusing showing a kid his place with crying about it. You're the one crying.

What's your problem? I don't have any.

If you like figure skating, go on and switch to that sort of thing.

If you talk shit, you get hit

I feel bad for you for being in absolute denial about it. I take it you didn't even know who Hartley was until he took over your national team?

You were literally the one saying that Pettersson was receiving" light bruising for being a little ****" Yet im the one crying about it for using common sense? You really think he did it for no reason whatsoever looool. No matter if you're a small hockey nation or not, there's nothing sympathetic with your team whatsoever. Hows the water over there in Latvia?

Thats only gonna happen if markstrom shuts out russia.

I was just happy he got some bruised ribs there, how am I crying?

I dont even know how to respond to a an opinion thats just wrong. I`m sorry.
Wrong based on what? The latvian newspapers you read after the games? Your coach is a dinosaur that will take whatever means necessary as long as he wins. Doesn't matter if it's embellishing, playing dirty, or playing boring hockey. That's his reputation. Refs were even worse that game and fell for everything your team were doing. Sweden beat the odds winning that one, because they weren't getting anything at all. The type of game that you enjoy winning more than the ones you win by a wide margin.

I would LOVE for you to provide some examples. We can go over them. But whats even more funny is that team full of NHL stars has to cry about refs being unfair, while playing a team thats on paper quite a bit weaker.

You were obviously upset that he turned to your bench after your presumed trash-talking backfired for whatever reason. But i guess it's more likely that Pettersson is the bad guy here, considering his numerous classless displays in the past... Man he's so classless.

Why so you can be in complete denial about it like you already are? Like im gonna waste my time doing that. Going back in time, record the game and put up and pin-point every single dirty play your team did. Don't know if your news stations are twisting the games like North Korea did when they thought they had won the World Cup in football, making you miss key moments like it only being a group stage game. And that they actually lost the game. Might actually be worth considering from here on out.
