Canadians are mostly of Scottish and Irish descent in Western Canada.

St. Patrik will fit in just great in the Western Canadian Provinces.

Seems to be true on the east coast as well. Newfoundlanders especially still have that Irish/Gaelic accent

Just a question to the Finns: are there no good coaches in Finland? Because you Finns reproach the coach practically by every whc bad coaching of the team no matter who stands behind the boards for the finnish NT.

Jalonen is a great coach!

Jukka that is.

I like it that Laine wasn't happy with his game, but Sauna is clearly his secret.

Yup.

Canada was basically founded by the Scots and the Irish (...of course the French too in Quebec). Our fathers of confederation were predominately Scottish and Irish in the Atlantic Provinces and the West. The accent is prominent in the East Coast dialect.

So, St. Patrik is a good nickname Finns :yo:.

Wrong conclusion. I think there is many top coaches and hardly ever there is consensus that coach is doing bad job. Only Helminen and now to some Extent KoJo has been consensus not-so-good coaches. And KoJo could prove us wrong, but he has definitely some wrong things going on in this team, the worst thing is that Jussi is LW and Laine is RW. That's big enough mistake to make coach rep bad in Finland.

You may be right but in my opinion Laine isn't playing bad actually as RW. The opponent is rather weak of course. Possibly it would be better he plays LW especially against stronger teams.

And if it would be lets say a player like Pulkkinen on a wrong side it wouldnt get so much flack about it, but we as a hockey fans would like to see Laine used there where his best. Theres no rational reason imo to JJ on left and Laine on right.. But wth i know bout coachingm :)

We have very good coaches in general, they just have some single flaws and these get often (over)criticized. For example in my opinion KJ is a fine coach, he just makes some weird decisions (see: no Markus Granlund in the team, Laine playing RW, Pulkkinen not on 2nd PP unit) that he won't switch easily.

Erkka Westerlund is the most complete Finnish coach IMO. The current uprising of Finns is mostly due to him (he initiated the change in Finnish junior coaching):

Laine made absolute fantastic channe for lindel. Please score on those beauties when you got open net lindel :D

Laine got some energy from those points. He wasn't good for the first half of the game but now it's looking better

That was the moment, when Laine realized every one just plays his shot away. That means he can easily be a great passer, because that means the passing lane is wide open. Like theeydiddon that 2 on 1. They took shot 99% away and pass 1%. Great pass still and lindel should've scored open net.

After this situation he might be point scoring machine. "If you give me room I make perfect pass if you take that away I snipe it to shelf -mentality". Hard to play guy like that off when he can both snipe elite, pass elite plus deke elite. What every ou try to take away, other one becomes open.

Is there any Tappara fans here who could tell us about how Laine has been skating earlier this season? Cause I wouldn't make any conclusions based on this tournament. This is 92nd game for him this season and most of these games he has played against men as a 17 years old kid.

Laine is now making those counter hits with the puck in every game at corners. I'm actually pretty sure Barkov teached that to him, he is such a good guy he would teach Pate.

It looked much worse at the beginning of the season.

Barkov is a beast.

He is a beauty, and gets forgotten in this Laine vs Matthews fight that he is only 20y.

I can't stand Hietanen on the pp, what the ........... does he bring to the table there, bad decisions time after time.

Hietanen should stop shooting alltogether

Yep. He is worst shooter I recall from our blueline. He shoots 100 pucks, scores maybe 1 goal from those (and that is in the EHT or this kinds of game in WHC).

His shot is solid in theory. He just never scores a goal. All he does is wastes good chances when he could pass to laine or some one else for one timer. Hell, he should pass for any one else, just not shoot.
