Laine needs to work on his skating, one flaw in his game is that he moves too slowly at times.

Laine looks really slow.

Please don't take offence to this Finnish fans (you know I've praised the positive parts of his game on many occasions).

Laine looks sluggish and does not accelerate quickly, he's not going to have that type of time and space in the NHL.

To be fair he had already 60 sec shift in his legs when that transition came.

I've seen how toxic the Matthews v Laine thread got. I hate the Leafs, I'm a die hard Oilers fan. I don't like admitting that Matthews has elite talent. But he does.

Laine has positives to his game (i.e. size and shot). However, his skating is not very good compared to other NHL players. His top speed is good. But his acceleration is below average compared to his NHL peers.

Wait until you see McDavid live. Your jaw will drop at how fast he is and how he can read the game while skating full speed. Compare Laine's skating to 97 and you'll see what I mean. Not meant to be an insult, just Laine has a lot to work on.

He only gotta work on acceleration and he's better skater than tavares was when he was drafted, also lot bigger. He will be fine.

Skating can improve. That's the good thing. Drai's skating got much better this year compared to last year.

Laine needs some power skating this summer.

Yeah McDavid is superb skater, Ive tryed to watch Canadas game as much as possible also.
I dont know if you remember what kind of skater Barkov was at Laines age? Cause they were very similar at the same point. Same coaches will train with Patrik with that matter. Nd if I recall Jets have a great skating coach? Barb something?

He'll get the very best coaching to improve his skating in Winnipeg.

Look, we know what he does well. There's no debate about his hockey IQ, elite shot, and PP prowess. But great players want to get better and work on their weaknesses. Laines weakness is his acceleration.
