GDT: Group A • Dec. 31 • Germany vs. Finland

If we have to lose, it would actually be beneficial to lose big. Those numbers will matter nothing going into next year, however it would guarantee a coach other than Jortikka. (And since it's the home tournament, there'd be a good chance they'd actually spend some time looking for a solid name rather than simply check who just happens to sit closest to the door at the next Vierumäki sauna party.)

I'm not implying that every issue this team has is due to coaching, but it seems obvious our current bench bosses can't do much to improve said areas either. Well, that atrocious PP is on them. 0 for 16 and practically nothing's been shaken up. Well, Rantanen gets minutes now, but that's it.

I can't believe I had to worry about the game against Germany. It should not happen. When I watched the game, they seemed like they want just that the game ends. They didn't look like they wanted to do much. I would say that the Germans wanted the win more, they look like they wanted to battle and they won battles in the third. Finland was sloppy and some bad passes, bad PK and horrible PP.

8 goals against isn't bad. It's actually good since we played against Canada and the US. But 5 goals for.. What are our players thinking? I don't think these coaches know how to prepare them to play against weaker opponent.

We can always say that it is only bad luck. But maybe it's more about junior coaching in Finland. Even our coaches don't know how to score goals. How they can teach it to our juniors? How they can train if all places are closed and you can't go play when you want. We might have this goal scoring problem for many many years. Maybe we never get rid of it.

Yeah, Finland pretty much coasted in that 3RD

If Karri Kivi is available, the entirety of Finland needs to take over the #KiviFace hashtag and bombard everyone who might be making decisions with pictures of Kivi and Jortikka-coached game results as captions. "2-1 LOSS AGAINST SLOVAKIA?!!"
