I feel the complete opposite. I usually like discussing games while watching, but the pissing matches going on is just childish.

Yeah, its not necessary.

I root for Canada but I have no interest in trashing other countries just because I wasn't born there.

Best thing for me about this tourney is seeing all the great players from around the world.

No, the Konecny hits and the solid forecheck by him and Stephens resulting in the goal were the turning point. Virtanen was a negative for us that period with his stupid penalty and lack of anything resembling offensive skill.

As I said, I saw it as a mixed bag. He was bad to start, but he showed he can be effective if he can be smart and physical. I posted when he was bad, but if he does something positive I am going to post it too. Being a big Konecny booster since the draft, Agree about him.

Alex Nylander is a better prospect and player than William Nylandet. I'm calling it now.

He is very smart ! The only thing William has on Alex is his edgework and turning.

Quoting this now.

Because it sure is silly, lol. :)

Younger brothers are often touted to be better than older brothers....however, 9 out of 10 times, it never ever works out that way.

Can we just play the 1/4 final game with 12 forwards. Send Virtanen home. I'd rather just play and lose without him around then lose while having to watch his foolishness.

That's a bit generous. Downie actually produced offensively at the WJC.

Certainly doesn't match Downie on the production side, but in terms of undisciplined play and selfish penalties, he's done more harm than good for his team. Guy doesn't know when to draw the line, like punching an opponent in the back of the head when he's engaged with another player. Is that really necessary?

Yup, how about yourself?

Sweden dominated at the start. But one Canada got physical, the momentum began to shift. They were outplaying them at the end. Imo

Sweden had 4 scoring chances at even strength compared to 2 for Canada. Sweden had 15 minutes of the game.

Bennett, McCann, Fabbri...

who cares though, we miss out on NHL players every year. This team dies on the shoulders of inept coaching and strategy; personnel losses are not a valid excuse

Agreed. This excuse went out the door after the 2013 tournament.

Why do Canucks and Leafs fans get so heated when people say Virtanen or Marner have been bad....there is no defending it they have. Just watch the game and there's no need to respond to the negative comments, they are justifiable.

Marner has been fine in this game though, so I don't see how he's been bad here. Unfair to pile on him based on the 1st period.

He had one bad giveaway with about 6 minutes to go in the period, where from behind Sweden's net he threw it up the middle to a couple Swedes when Canada had 3 guys deep. It lead to a rush the other way, but nothing came of it and it was only a single cherry picked play. You can get away with that stuff more in juniors, but he'll need to clean that up as he develops.

My one legit criticism of Marner so far is that most of his possession has been on the perimeter. He needs to start getting inside and the points will come. Overall he's looked very quick out there and has controlled the puck a lot. Definitely improved over some previous games.
