Generally speaking I'm really pleased with USA Hockey's emphasis on skating. It's evident on big ice how strong of skaters most of these guys are.

Wilson has his boys playing well. Calm and in control. Lowry on the other hand, not so much.

Jeez just checked in to watch the game and I'm stunned. What is going on, and how did Canada not do this to the Swiss?

Canada was playing back to back versus a rested Swiss team. Swiss is now playing back to back versus a rested U.S team.

Also, U.S is better than Canada... unless Canada faces and beats them in the medal rounds (would have to be Gold or Bronze game).

The Swiss objectively played significantly better yesterday. Anyone who has watched both can plainly see that.

But nonetheless, the Americans are looking great and finishing their opportunities. I'm very impressed with them throughout the tournament, playing the way I thought Canada would.

Swiss goalie stopped 32 of 34 shots ( prior to shootout ) yesterday. Swiss goalies ( plural ) obviously haven't been dialed in today...Didn't they allow 9 goals on 19 shots at one pt? Seems like whole team mailed it in, after floodgates opened BUT not totally unexpected...

Swiss looked totally gassed in latter half of third period vs Canada. And they didn't handle back to back games well earlier in tourney either...losing to lowly Denmark

Obviously the Yankee snipers deserve a goodly share of the credit too

Team US shot % is 45,45

Unsustainable. :sarcasm: Seriously though, their goalie was playing like a prime Hasek against Canada - had nothing left for this game... and their backup is playing for the first time.

who ever will be in the position should trade up and get mattews and tkachuk ... awesome chemistry and skill

Which team trades down?

I really hope the Yotes win the lottery and get Matthews. Domi-Matthews- Dvorak/Duclair will be incredible to watch grow together.

Does anyone else think the top of this draft look more promising than last year? Aside from McDavid, I feel last year was overhyped because they were all North American.

Coyotes are going to make the playoffs in the pacific... Even if they would finish 13th otherwise.

Man. This game shows that Canada doesn't have a chance this year

With the new draft lottery rules and the importance of entry-level contracts under the salary cap system, I wouldn't expect many 1sts to be traded without lottery protection conditions anymore. That's not to say it can't happen, but if I were a GM you'd really have to overpay to get my 1st if I'm a lottery team.
