I feel like McDavid's talent is not being maximized at all right now. Just get him a winger with speed that can shoot the puck.

Virtanen. He's shown great signs of doing exactly what you just described so far.

I dunno, Eichel looked pretty darned good to me. Look at that pass and his unreal goal in the SO against Finland. When he was on the ice, he tended to run things.

I found he tried to do a little bit too much on his own. He's got a good team with him, he's gotta remember that. So does McDavid. The guy who uses his team better will be seen as the better player.

The bad... has yet to win a faceoff or board battle.

Dont have to be lookin for him to see he is just not up to par for this team

Has difficulty winning draws, poor passes if he tries to pass, has trouble keeping up with his linemates, poor shot in a sense
I question his pking
He can cycle atleast, I guess

He is actually one of the better faceoff men in junior and was actually solid during the pre tournament. He has had like 4 draws. Can't judge him after that.

He had one bad pass which was late in a shift and his line mate went to change right after.

Gauthier actually has speed, it is just hard to notice with his slide because his stride isn't necessarily fast.

Leafs fan here. Gauthier has no offensive capabilities and if he's not winning draws, he's basically useless. That said, we're not going to lose a game because Gauthier is on this team.

He wasn't brought here for offensive and we all know that.

This is what gets me. Yes he's been bad, and his game isn't really suited to this tournament either, but he's probably the most mentioned player in this thread currently despite having like 4 shifts. He's good on the draw, I'll trust his stats from the Q and last year's WJC, so this period has been an anomaly in that regard too.

Ya, it really is sad. I think at the end of the day he will be one of those players who never had exceptional stats but he will translate to the NHL. He will be a late bloomer.

James and Bob keep talking about the Reinhart line, yeah we know they are really, really good but what about something else?

I like this idea. Fabbri-McDavid-Virtanen, Petan-Lazar-Ritchie.
Why? Fabbri is looking fine to create things on his line. If you're successfully spreading things out, I don't see what one hopes to accomplish like that. I'd keep Fabbri where he is. Switching Virtanen with Lazar is something I'd like to see, though.

Eichel is good, but his stick is way too long and that's going to be a disadvantage for handling the puck in the NHL. McDavid is quicker, more agile, and has that Canadian hockey IQ.
