Paul does alot of the dirty work and heavy lifting on that line retrieving and winning pucks in the corner, very nice player ottowa has.

I agree, he is a solid player and the kind that Sens could use to shore up some gawdawful defence, though years away.

Slovakia turns it over so much.

They look slow. A physically fit team is whats needed to keep up with a team as skilled as Canada and Slovakia does not seem to fit that model.

Good period but now need to figure out McDavid and get him going. Lazar and Ritchie aren't the ones to do this. Let's see Fabbri and Virt move up.

I didn't say hes done anything great

Although I think he is being watched much more closely then 90% of the roster which is sad because he literally is our 4th center/13th forward.

At the same time he hasn't done anything bad yet either.

The bad... has yet to win a faceoff or board battle.

Dont have to be lookin for him to see he is just not up to par for this team

I feel like McDavid's talent is not being maximized at all right now. Just get him a winger with speed that can shoot the puck.

Has difficulty winning draws, poor passes if he tries to pass, has trouble keeping up with his linemates, poor shot in a sense
I question his pking
He can cycle atleast, I guess

If you Watch this game in french and you dont understand, it doesnt realy matter because the analyst brings stats and facts that nobody want to know.

This is what gets me. Yes he's been bad, and his game isn't really suited to this tournament either, but he's probably the most mentioned player in this thread currently despite having like 4 shifts. He's good on the draw, I'll trust his stats from the Q and last year's WJC, so this period has been an anomaly in that regard too.

I really want Slovakia to come out strong and give it their all. I want this team to be tested, which will also help them make more simple plays rather than overpassing.

he needs to get atleast a point today to not all back to Eichel hype.

Definitely impressed with Virtanen and Fabbri. One of them should flip with Ritchie and play with McDavid/Lazar.

Didn't notice Nurse, but I guess that's a good thing for D-men?? The Kelowna duo looked pretty good.

I think Canada has so much skill to the point where 1 guy can't stand out. Eichel looked really good earlier because he could control the puck by himself. The quality of McDavid's teammates kind of means that he's not going to always get the puck or hold onto it.

It's because everyone else looks good for the most part or at least passable. The 4th line won one faceoff that period. The center for that draw was Point.

edit: And yes, I am watching the 4th line closer than any other line due to it being Virtanen's line.
