Actually it’s smart to not fire Keefe right now from his POV. The longer he can Keefe the longer his own leash becomes. He will likely only get one more coach before his head is next on the chopping block.

The GM holding onto a deadbeat coach at the expense of the team's success to save his own skin is honestly one of the more annoying things a franchise can go through.

This team is cooked. Forget even just standing pat at the deadline, they should be flat out sellers. Send Bertuzzi and Domi to actual contenders who want a bit more scoring punch and let Robertson and Holmberg and Knies run roughshod the rest of the way.

That decision should have been made before signing Nylander, the only piece they had control over that's worth anything significant at deadline. I said it 20 times. Now they're locked into this group for many years and soon, it's the Marner decision. This is a nightmare scenario.

This is the saddest truth out there. They finally play hard, but just couldn’t compete. Edmonton came out and played physical, which is the Leafs kryptonite, and they had more skill overall.

So you knew how those signings would work out?

I think they were exactly the kind of players we needed to add. I can't explain why they suck right now, but they do. IF they were playing like they had just last season, they would be the signings of the summer. Hard to predict. And too early to call it a mistake.

I think Domi needs to play a little more. I dunno what Bert's got going on... but he's very ineffective right now.
