Now what's going on here? That Canuck in the background has the logo for the home whites on his jersey! And appears to have some patch on his shoulder that the other players don't have! Hmmm... a pre-season game perhaps with patched-up jerseys for the "scrubs" not likely to make the team? "V" design on the sleeve places this in 70-71 or 71-72...
It appears to be Ryan Kesler.

March 21, 1972 – Good old time hockey in the EHL (New Haven vs Syracuse). Goalie Jim Armstrong (New Haven) straddling referee Gordie Heagle while choking him, this after the referee had punched a player in the face. Before all this the evening began with a bomb threat called in to the arena, then a player got his skates stolen, after that someone clipped the phone lines for local radio broadcaster. Can anyone say Slap Shot? (which by the way was filmed in this arena)

1978 - publicity photo of Anders Hedberg and Ulf Nilsson with coach Fred Shero. Both players would only wear that version of the Rangers uniforms through the exhibition games as the team would switch back to their traditional uniforms at the start of the 1978-79 regular season.

Anders Hedberg looks like Valeri Bure in that pic if Valeri Bure actually aged a bit

^^ Geez I liked that guy... Jim Craig .... like he left everything on the ice in Lake Placid ... conquered Everest & that was that.... then had a huge Rep to live with .... not completely uncommon as weve seen it at various times over the years & decades with players coming out of elite amateur to Junior, Junior & NCAA to pro, internationally..... transition to the pro game rocky to say the least for Jimmy .... gotta feel for him.

At least he had a decent acting career ... (for a hockey player).

ACTING

After the success of the 1980 Winter Olympics, Jim Craig was offered several guest appearance spots on iconic television shows. Jim’s all time favorite was the opportunity to be in a Coke commercial with his father, Donald.
Jim’s notable appearances included:
  • Love Boat
  • Laverne & Shirley
  • Coca-Cola commercial
  • Old Spice commercial

Not much to Jim Craig. He wasn't all that great a goalie, caught lightning in a bottle, then reverted back to what he was

February 2, 1954 - Detroit General Manager Jack Adams (Ted Lindsay with the C) with a makeshift trophy given to the winner of a game between Detroit Red Wings and Marquette Prison Pirates (18:0 after the first period). Imagine the NHLPA of today accepting having their guys playing against a bunch of inmates

I had heard in those days that the Wings played an exhibition games against the IHL , but never heard anything like this before. Perhaps this was hockey's version of, "The Longest Yard"?

There is a story out there online about that game with the inmates as I remember reading it a few years ago . It was a great read if you can find it . I think it was in these forums somewhere .

From 1973 to 1989, the Beanpot tournament had the same four coaches. Left to right: Len Ceglarski(BC), Fernie Flaman(Northeastern), Jack Parker(BU) and Bill Cleary(Harvard).

Sadly, Len Ceglarski(far left) passed away this past weekend at the age of 91. He was also a longtime coach at Clarkson before his tenure at BC, an Olympic silver medalist in 1952 , a Lester Patrick Award recipient and US Hockey Hall of Fame inductee.

Former BC hockey coach Len Ceglarski dead at 91 - The Boston Globe
