I’ve been a huge proponent of Wallstedt but may have to eat crow. Don’t look now, but Cossa just passed Wallstedt in sv% in the AHLthis year.
Still way too soon picking one and saying he will be the best.
Yeah, agreedAbsolutely true. Wallstedt's having a rough few weeks and I'm sure he'll be fine.
But I'd say that really needs to be emphasized to those who have been calling Cossa a bust for the last year plus...

Just watched a winged wheel podcast and they did an interview with Mazur. Seems like an awesome dude. They asked him who doest get enough recognition on the griffins and right away he said Albert Johansson and he thinks Albert is the best d man on the team right now, says he just does everything right. Im a bit more jacked up for Albert now.
It hurts to say it but I agree with you. There is no way we have two rookie dmen in one year. Edvinsson has next year locked up. ASP the next year? Then there is Wallinder to think about. I just don’t see where AJ fitsi'd be surprised if Johansson ever played a single minute for the Wings
he loses waiver immunity next year and the Wings already don't wanna give Edvinsson a roster spot as it is so not sure how Johansson would get one
On the other hand, when was the last time both GR and Detroit were in a playoff spot this late in the season? Our unwillingness to have any rookies up this year, will be felt in years to come. There's half a dozen guys in GR that should have been at bare minimum rotating up here for a few weeks at a time. Maybe we can pull a Quincey and trade a first for one of them in a few years after we lost them on the waiver wire... that'll be fun...
It's not like they're getting blocked out by a murderers' row of stalwarts...

Based on the comments from the guy who's on the team, watching them every moment of every game, he might fit at the top of that list rather than the bottom. It hurts to say it but I agree with you. I believe Yzerman trying to build winning young team in Grand rapids until some of them fully NHL ready. AJ is Edvinsson linemate with highest +/- team rating . I think Johansson going to replace Maata, could be traded this year. I will not be surprised if AJ will be first In Red Wings uniform and Edvinsson will join him lateri'd be surprised if Johansson ever played a single minute for the Wings

You shouldn't struggle with it. He is NHL ready.Based on the comments from the guy who's on the team, watching them every moment of every game, he might fit at the top of that list rather than the bottom.
And I really struggle with the idea that Edvinsson has been ready for NHL hockey

EDIT: Didn't realize I could take this example further. Here's all NHL defenseman, 22-23 thru 23-24, 5v5, minimum 100 minutes played

Loved the pick. Love his future. He has not shown himself to be ready yet.
What mistakes? Please explain. Are you suggesting that AJ doesn't make mistakes?I agree it's probably going to be AJ first. I think management wants Edvinsson to clean up his mistakes first.

Did you guys miss that he has the highest rate of goals against on the team? And damn near the highest rate of goals against in the league (surrounded by other guys that are also not NHL players)?Man if only the D on the roster had to clean up mistakes in order to play...
I'm not suggesting a player has to be perfect to play for us. That couldn't be further from the case on our current roster. I'm not even saying I agree with management's evaluation of Edvinsson, I just think that's what they think. Personally, I haven't watched enough games of Edvinsson to come to a conclusion on that. What I do know is everyone in the organization has high praise for Albert, and while sure he's not perfect (nobody is) his whole appeal is his lack of mistakes. Like Mazur said, he does everything right. If there's a long term injury on D I could see Yzerman calling him up to slide into a 3rd pair role. Especially since we're pushing for a playoff spot, they're gonna be more picky with who they call up.You shouldn't struggle with it. He is NHL ready.

He has literally played 11 total games. These stats are meaningless given the sample size.Did you guys miss that he has the highest rate of goals against on the team? And damn near the highest rate of goals against in the league (surrounded by other guys that are also not NHL players)?
Is that indicative of making mistakes?
Well, he's also LOOKED like he's been making lots of mistakes in those games. He has literally played 11 total games. These stats are meaningless given the sample size.
Plot twist:It hurts to say it but I agree with you. There is no way we have two rookie dmen in one year. Edvinsson has next year locked up. ASP the next year? Then there is Wallinder to think about. I just don’t see where AJ fits
I very much disagree with this comment. He wasn't flawless, but he also wasn't totally out of place, especially during his two games this season. At this point I also don't see him acquiring NHL decision making and processing (on both sides of the puck) playing in the AHL. As for your AHL.tv question: he is without question the Griffins' best player night in and night out. It really isn't very close.Well, he's also LOOKED like he's been making lots of mistakes in those games.
If we can't use his NHL games to gauge his NHL readiness, his AHL stats don't look too impressive to change my mind. Who has AHLtv?
