Gotta admit, Cossa is quietly putting together a good season. He’s had a great 2024 so far.

Also really relived to see Lombardi with a goal. He’d had a massive point drought coming into this game, so hopefully that helps him.

Edvinsson was very sloppy tonigh

Sometimes he plays like he's sleepy, but when he's on he's so good
I don't care what anyone says. He is bored down there and is going to develop bad habits simply because he can get away with it down there.

On another note cossa was outstanding tonight and in the shootout looked dominant. I am really liking his development and his compete level.

Ghost is unique player, until ASP is ready, id rather keep him, just depends for how much
If they re-sign Ghost then they have 7 defensmen, after Seider re-signs, for next season. That doesn't include Edvinsson who will be stuck in the minors if we do.

This is assuming no one gets dealt, which is unlikely.
Every defensmen other than Seider and Maata have either partial or full no move clauses.
Nobody is going to take Chariot, Holl or Petry. We aren't trading Walkman or Seider.
Maata is the only one we could move and he's been one of our most consistent defensmen this year.

It’s almost like Cossa is a hyper athletic prospect with a great ceiling but is really raw and inconsistent and needed a lot of time to work on the technical and mental aspects of the game and the Wings should have taken a really long and patient development path with him maybe even keeping him lower leagues to work with him to help him reach his potential?

Looks like they took away Kaspers point on the first goal today but Cossa and Kasper have probably been the 2 biggest parts, with Berggren on this tear they've been on. Theyre 11-2-1 in their last 14. Cossa with a .939 save percentage in the new year

It's been too damn long since we've had a goalie prospect do this well in GR. Not since Mrazek. After decades of good enough goalies I hope we can get a top 10 in the league starter out of Cossa or Augustine.

Edvinsson is not doing so well or dominating to the point he can claim boredom. He is only 23rd in AHL D scoring, so this bored narrative has no sense to it.

Perhaps he should choose to start putting up some better offensive numbers... not nearly good enough at the moment to be bored

The trick with fostering good performance is to actually reward good performance. Not giving a shit is learned and reinforced behavior...

If he is the kind of person who gets all babyish to not give a shit, just cause he isn't in the NHL yet, then he will never be anything special. Furthermore you likely never win with someone with that attitude. He didn't look that good in his 9 games last year and even in the 2 games he did play this season, it wasn't earth shattering in how good he was. He still looked like a raw guy with stuff to learn to me.

You're right. Ed is trash. Flip him for a try hard like Tanev or something. I'm sure that will work out well for us.

Preseason didn't mean anything.
Scoring streaks early in the season didn't mean anything.

The Wings are teaching him that his performance doesn't matter. If the Wings don't care why should he?

Who said he was trash. If you can't read others stuff without acting like a babyish teen bop with response then you aren't worth conversing with.

Preseason does mean nothing, which is why every single season there are standouts statistically that do absolutely nothing once the season begins, because teams are now playing their actual NHL rosters. Also, no one said that Ed shouldn't be getting a chance, but you are one of the few who just think he comes in and is immediately as good as Seider and the second best at worst. He played 2 games this year, and he was out of position a good number of times, and also didn't seem sure who he should be covering at other times. AKA still a work in progress. He did not look like Seider did when Seider played his first game, we knew he was a gem. Ed looks like a gem in the making who still has rough spots to him.

Point to the posts.

"Gotta earn your spot" is code for "hope for long term injuries for two of your teammates."

Way too small of a sample size, imo

Holl and Maatta should not be playing minutes on this team ahead of Edvinsson. Pointing out that Edvinsson was out of position a few times is ridiculous when Holl is a disaster every time he touches the ice.

I am pretty sure Yzerman expected the roster to be a tire fire again and the level of performance has surprised him, but Edvinsson is stuck behind the roster limit. If GR is out of their playoffs Edvinsson will almost certainly come up when the rosters expand.

Turning out to be a great season for Cossa. He had a really good year in the ECHL last year. I have to think that we have the top goalie prospect tandem in the league with Augustine

they would have to really fall apart to miss at this point

they only need to finish top 5 in their division and are currently 2nd and 12 points ahead of 6th place

Show me where I said anything good about Holl? I was against Holl the second he was signed here. Way overdone how bad Maatta supposedly is.
