Kasper looks terrible, and Lombardi/Hanas/Mazur are middling. Soderblom looks bad. Johansson and Wallinder are treading water at this level. It’s not a good look for our future.
Kasper missed off season training, all the players who has missed off season training has said that will ruin the whole season completely. This season will be bad for Kasper but hopefully he stays and has good training next off season. Most of the kids his age are just starting their pro careers, have some patience and give him time.
Mazur also had a injury at the start of the season but his season has been disappointment so far. Last season he had 6 points in 6 games and nearly a PPG player in college, 5 goals and 2 assists in 5 games at the U20 worlds. Board battle machine at the men's worlds, this is just growing pains. Im not worried about Mazur one bit.
Wallinder has been a long term project ever since he was drafted, back in 2020 i said that earliest you could expect Wallinder fight for NHL spot is 5 years from now. This is year 4, Wallinder will be better next year. He's a slow learner but the main thing is that he is learning. Lombardi has just started his pro career and he is still built like 14-year old, again it's better to patient and give him more time.
Hanas had a good start last season but then got injured and missed rest of the season. I was expecting better than this, he is not looking good. Is the injury still a factor? Time will tell which direction he goes. Söderblom has been biggest disappointment, i was expecting him to be one of the leaders in GR. He is signed for next season, like in Hanas case next season will be more decisive than this.
I never been very high on Johansson, i don't see him being that great prospect as many others do. I think he is performing as expected, on a pace of 29 points. And +7 at the moment, it's not that bad.
Shiny new toy-syndrome must be one helluva drug or what ever is the reason why people are so impatient with prospects. It takes more than just skill to make in NHL. Wise man once said, "it's not enough anymore to just be a professional hockey player, you have to be a professional athelete". Nutrition, rest, training, mental side. It's a marathon, not a sprint.
