Lombardi is on the puck in the offensive zone more while Kasper is focused more on defense, often to his own detriment. If he was higher in the lineup then I think we’d see more from Kasper offensively.

The guy I’m most concerned with is Soderblom. He’s just not getting through traffic as much as a guy his size should.
Whatever injury(?) he had at the end of last season has really set him back. Looks nowhere near as confident as he was previously.

Game is just getting started in Texas tonight. Elmer Soderblom is healthy scratched. Cossa in net.

Maverik Bourque just scored all 4 goals for the Stars, winning it for them in OT.

Griffins were protecting the lead with about a minute left and Edvinsson was weak with the puck and didn't get the clear and passed it to a Stars player and they ended up tying it up.

Nothing bizarre either, they seem to follow the consensus for the most part. They just draft skill instead of worrying about more correctable, prototypical attributes
Yup, been saying this for a while. Rounds 3+ it gets dicey as online scouting isn’t very good there, but if you drafted just consensus skill and high compete players in the first 3 rounds instead of trying to be smarter than everyone, for the most part you’d be better than NHL teams.

You are making it sound way easier than it actually is. (IMO)

I saw GR was up 3-2 late in the 3rd but forgot to check back. I said to myself "I bet they lost", and look at that....yikes. Sad that it is so predictable with this group.

Dallas’s drafting has been incredible. Hintz, Robertson, Johnston, and now Bourque and Stank.
Incredible lucky i'd say, Joe McDonnell is their scouting director. The same Joe McDonnell who was in Detroit from 1995 to 2013 and was Detroit's scouting director 2003-2013. Not many great hits during that period. And they also took Julius Honka over Larkin. No skill, just luck.

You can call it luck if you like. Hintz, Robertson, Oettinger, Johnson, Bourque, Stankoven, Harley, Lindell . They were gifted Heiskanen, but drafted an entire core around him without a top 10 pick. They’ve done better than 95% of teams in the league.

Yeah, should have been obvious to everyone Wyatt Johnston would become a good player based on the 7 games he played total in his draft season.

Good drafting. Still no cups though. Maybe this is their year!

Drafting is mostly luck and right now they have a bunch of good luck. We had really good luck upon a time and now no longer do. These things are cyclical.

Rematch against Texas again tonight. I thought they played well yesterday, just took some untimely penalties and couldn't stop Texas' powerplay. The team was clicking through for sure.

The lineup is pretty much the same as last night except Soderblom is back in, and Spezia is out due to injury. Also, Viro is in for Didier, who had some trouble last night. Looks like Cossa is back in net again.

Soderblom, Hanas, Lombardi, and Mazur did a gingerbread house contest, pretty funny stuff

Agreed. I wanted Savoie over Kasper as well and yall know how I feel about Benson.

Draper and co hate drafting skill and this is the result.

I just think we need to have some patience and long term thinking with these picks.

Coming into this year Savoie had a very disappointing post draft year and was below Kasper in every prospect list I saw.

Now of course this year things look flipped.

Development isn't going to be 100% linear for these guys.

Benson looks awesome right now, no doubt. But that doesn't mean he's going to be a better pick than Danielson two years from now.

I just think there’s a middle ground between constant doom and gloom and acting like management is infallible.
Since 2019 when Yzerman took over we only have 2 drafted players On the roster. That’s unacceptable for a rebuilding team.

In the same time frame, ignoring top 3 lottery picks, NJ has L. Hughes, Bratt, Holtz, Mercer. That’s just one example. Every single rebuilding team who is on the upswing now has done much better than us in that respect.
