Another good showing for Cossa. I expect the team to get a lot better soon. The team is FAR too talented to be struggling for too long.

Haven't watched the games, but judging from the stats, Cossa doesn't seem out of place, as he did last year. I do expect better from the team, a whole lot better.

I mean y’all can stay watch or actually watch the games. They’re gonna be good

Doesn't matter if you stat watch or not, getting outshot like this is not something teams that are good do. Go look at stats at seasons end of good teams in any league. The ones who get outshot like this are all at the bottom.

We are getting outplayed and outshot because we are too young in GR. The second half will be better than the first. It will be nice to play someone else to see how we measure up. Great game Cossa!

We have played the same team for every game. Do I think the Eagles planned to shoot as much as possible against a team with a young defense and many rookies? Let's see how the shot count is after 10 games

Cossa is kinda making things quiet on the Wallstedt lover page
I'm more curious how the centers picked after Cossa do. I don't like picking goalies in the first round because they are all headcases.

Speaking of centers, how's Kasper doing? I'm not watching GR because the Wings are more fun to watch now.

1 pt in 4 games, though no way to know how much he actually plays. Gr is getting almost doubled in shots in all 4 games so far, so that ain't great.

I'm a bit concerned about him. He looked shell shocked when Mantha punched him in the face, and I've said all along that he's gonna pay a price if he plays the same way he did in the SHL. I only see 4 PIMs so doesn't look like he's been in a fight down there yet.

No one ”pays the price” anymore, it’s 2023.

Ever have a 234lb athlete punch you in the face? Even one punch is enough to prove a point. Mantha got a pretty good left in at 27 seconds into this video, and looks like about 4 good shots total to zero for Kasper. And look at the way he looks right after the fight.

And as much as I hate Mantha, he was right to defend himself after getting crosschecked into the boards. Watch the full video.

So about Kasper... In the last game, when they were down a goal, Kasper was the most noticeable player on the ice, especially once they pulled their goalie to try and tie it up. He looked like he did back in the SHL last season, driving play. It was like someone flipped a switch. Hopefully we see more of that in his game on a consistent basis. We need to be patient and give him some time to adjust.

I don’t see anything special in that sequence. Not sure what you’re reading into it. Kasper was probably in bigger fights in the shl.

You've never been in a real fight, have you?

Also, there's aren't many players in the SHL that are Mantha's size, and there also aren't many punches thrown in that league. Most fights are just pushing and hugging matches.

Which is what that fight was too. Even if he was almost hit once and probably learned to not engage a guy like that, not sure it has any relevance at all to his trajectory as a player or performance in GR.

He stopped playing dirty after Mantha punched him. Pretty much invisible in the last preseason game.

I know for sure you've never been in a fight. Let's just leave it at that. As for Kasper, time will tell anyways.

Kasper has never been a dirty player, and certainly wasn’t doing anything different in the earlier preseason games. Confirmation bias is a thing. You’re probably one of those people who think Ryan Reaves is a deterrent.

I'm not really sure Mantha even landed any punches there? Maybe grazed Kasper? The one punch from one angle looked like it probably landed, but from another angle looked like it got buried in Kasper's shoulder pad. Kasper didn't really seem worse for wear afterward.

He clearly lands a left at 27 seconds in you can see Kasper's head snap back, can't tell on the second left the video is a bit jumpy there.

Watch the crosscheck before Mantha starts the fight. You didn't watch the whole video obviously.

And of course Kasper isn't dirty, those SHL hugging matches all started because of love.

And I'd rather have someone like Reaves than Fischer or Czarnik or even Burger. If you've got warm bodies playing on the 4th line, they might as well be able to fight. It was discussed over the summer, guys like Reaves or Marroon are cheap in free agency, but they get traded for surprisingly high picks at TDL. As for deterrence, a good PP is the best deterrence.

I would rather have them able to kill penalties. Having PKers at the fourth line is huge as it saves the more offensive players from unproductive ice time.
That's fair, but the current 4th line doesn't do that either, unless you want to count Fischer's 31 seconds of PK.

Ideally I'd like 2 guys that can PK and one that can punch people or at least hit hard because of shit like this:

Did you miss Ras taking Baby Ruth off the ice on two separate occasions?

And Chia took a vicious roughing penalty on Greig as well, later in the game.... /s
