Why can’t you upgrade on Lindgren?

I mean if you trade for a guy like Hanifin and Lindgren gets to move down a pair or two, does that not improve the defense? It’s like in baseball when you acquire a lead off hitter and can move everyone down a place in the lineup. You add at the top and round out the roster that way. I’m not having that everyone on our defense is so untouchable. And so in the perfect roles that it cannot be upgraded. That’s ridiculous to me

With what assets were we brining in two top 4 defensemen?

We can make a play at Hanifin in free agency.

With the assets that we didn’t trade for Guentzel for starters. No one moved for any price tag that would have been outrageous. Said this in the other thread, but it’s misreading the market. This team would have been better off if we gave the Wennberg trade to get a right winger, and we used whatever we were floating for a center (or a Dman). That’s how the market broke. If the thought process is “the only winger worth a first is Guentzel” then that first should have been used on a different position.

and we barely spent anything. seems like a smart job.

I wasn't comfortable trading any of the prospects teams are interested in to bring in a guy who's a UFA this summer. We can get Hanifin for free.

Sorry, but the 2024 Rangers are not good enough that we had to pay extra just to do that move now.

See what they do in the playoffs and remake the lineup in the summer when assets cost less.

I'll worry about it if we start next year with Lindgren and Trouba.

Honestly, and I could be wrong, Roslovic says to me that Kakko would be staying with Zibanejad and Kreider. I think that alignment has a higher ceiling.

I agree, but Drury didn’t. Drury was trying to add, but took a half measure. Also I’d much rather try out Hanifin and see if he is a fit, then sign him to a big contract sight unseen like we did with Trouba. Need to learn from that.

For sure, and that’s where I’m at now. I think Trouba isn’t going to be movable and Lindgren is going to get one of those extensions for intangibles and we are going to be locked into this roster. But yeah we will see in the summer

We can upgrade on Lindgren. The problem is Lindgren will still play with Fox.

Lindgren I think just got worn down from all the beatings hes taken. He’s a small guy, he’s barely bigger than Fox , yet he tries to play like Trouba .

Need Roslovic to get Kreider and Zib going

I want to see a Cuylee , Wennberg , Kakko line

Can see late in games it being Wennberg between Goodrow and Vesey though

Brodz 4th C I guess. Atleast it pushes Goodrow out of the middle that’s part of his issue

We don't have to do anything sight unseen if we use our eyeballs and stop going off of "is tall."

Trouba was honestly never good. Hanifin obviously is.

I know it's the Rangers and they probably like Lindgren and Trouba but nothing was happening regardless.

I am. I love the deadline. For a good team, I think the deadline is usually best used to fill holes. Of course Guentzel would have been a great add but I’m 100% happy with what they did. Maybe even one of the new guys is retained longer-term. Which would be a nice bonus.

This is reasonably close to where I'm at. A little lower on Roslovic than you are, but I still think he was a good value get.

Ruhwedel was practically free. He’s a solid depth defenseman who may be of use while Trouba is out.

Ask me again in a few weeks. Last year everyone was penciling the Rangers into the Cup Finals and they lost in the first round. Boston also loaded up last year and lost to a team that didn’t add anybody. You just have no idea how these trades are going to pan out.
