I don't understand the negativity regarding the usmnt. Everyone knows qualifiers are tough and ugly games usually, regardless if the opponent. I thought that for much of the game, USA looked dominant and were by far the better team. When you can show that against a valiant opponent on the road, that is a good sign.

Also, the partnerships that are being created will be vital in a year. Besler/Omar will be much better in a years time and their chemistry will be valuable. Jones-Bradley is a hell of a CM pairing. Dempsey and Jozy need to click better but we are starting to see it. Altidore needs to stay hot going into 2014. On the outside, things look a little more confusing. Are Beasley and Evans the outside backs going forward? Chandler will likely be the RB and he's good and Johnson can play LB at a high level too. Zusi is looking like he will become a stud in due time and we still have Donovan coming back who is still a phenomenal player.

I want to see Agudelo get in some friendlies. He's young and will be able to contribute and he's gonna need to be a huge part of 2018.

And yea, can't complain about 3 points on the road in CONCACAF ever. Mexico is 1-0-4 this hexagonal including a draw home to Jamaica which should have been a loss. Yea, these small countries aren't sexy but the environment they play in coupled with the fact they all want to beat us make them extremely difficult games

I'll save my USMNT negativity for whatever teams we draw in the group stage of the World Cup.

If it's like last time, i'll be pleased. If it's Germany, Brazil, and Ivory Coast, I'll start making plans for getting stuff done during the tourney.

Part of me wants the team to sell Lewandowski this year but the other part wishes he will stay. If the team sells him for a large transfer fee, which is possible given the remarkable year he had, that could go a long way to finding his eventual replacement. However, if a replacement cannot be found this upcoming transfer window (here's hoping Chelsea thinks Lukaku isn't ready yet and he gets loaned here) then our forward lineup is awful. I'd be comfortable putting Reus in Lewandowski's spot, but with Schieber being the only real alternative, and he showed he did not fit in this season, it's going to be a mess without Lewy.

I think best possible outcome right now is have Lewandowski stay at least until the January transfer window and hope another striker becomes available.

Before last time, I was genuinely starting to believe the anti-American soccer conspiracy theories.

Some nations get screwed a lot more than we do with the draw. Two successive tournaments, Ivory Coast was supposed to be the Great African Hope and wound up in the group of death each time (Argentina-Netherlands, then Brazil-Portugal).

It's hard for the US not to have a **** draw when you have a top seed and another European nation in your group anyway, though getting Slovenia/Algeria were gifts and even then they almost couldn't take advantage. Watch us get Ghana in the group this year

The Ivory Coast just needs to learn how to produce players on the defensive side of the ball, for a change.

Manchester United are confident they can sign Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas and Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski after receiving private encouragement from both players.

If Moyes could get that done, I would be ecstatic. Wouldnt be worried about Rooney leaving at all. Still would need a winger IMO (These are all rumors obviously)

edit: Man City also confirmed the signing on Jesus Navas today

Double Edit: Barcelona will make a bid for Fernando Torres

How is Roy Miller not starting for Costa Rica? :(

Tonight's game won't be pretty. No Jones and Zusi is gonna kill the midfield. Thankfully Panama is without Perez

He usually does the color for the Philadelphia Union. Absolutely terrible. Can't believe ESPN can't find a better person of Mexican heritage for the job

US game is probably gonna start on ESPN2 due to the Mexico game starting late. ESPN does not turn off live events according to company policy.
