No , everything is really backed up. Last update i got was maybe tomorrow. Only good thing about this crappy weather is it's giving me more time to wait while not missing any golf days. This is the start of 7 weeks waiting. :( I'm blaming it on the Suez.

Well that was fun... finally got My fitting session done at Golftec...

Went with Mizuno JPX921 Forged... 5 to Gap Wedge... JPX921 Forged - Mizuno Golf Canada

A Mizuno 4 Hybrid...

A Taylor Made Hi Toe RAW Wedge with full diamond face...

All with Aerotech Steelfiber 95 Lite Shafts on them...

A very interesting and exhilarating bit of fun... we knocked over 2000 rpm off the irons and gained 14 more yards on a 7 iron...

My previous set were made 1 inch too short for my somatotype... shafts too much flex... and of course old style lofts... way too weak...

I had a multi-taper steel shaft picked out until My Pro offered the Aerotech shafts he uses for tournament golf... steel was great but these swing effortlessly for Me... and allow for longer use as I age...

Now like @Jets 31 ... got to wait 5 to 7 weeks...

Big kids and their toys... they just get more expensive...

Update... kiboshed the Arotech's... we thought they might be an $80 add on... we find out from the factory they are a $315 add per club... back to the multi-tapered steel...

How long did the fitting process take? Sounds really interesting.

I know you aren't asking me but mine was about 2 to 3 hours . That was for the Driver, 3 wood , all the irons and 3 wedges . I've played golf a long time and never had this done before, it was very interesting.

@John Agar

:D

My 2 iron is a Mizuno, and puring that club is the best feeling in the bag. It's like spreading warm butter. I'm not sure I could stay off the golf course with a full Mizuno iron set!

Hit in front of a radar my last lesson and found out that not only do I no longer hit outside to in, but I've over-corrected my swing to such an extent that my "good" swings were in the 5+ degrees inside to out range.

Unsurprisingly to you all, I'm a big numbers guy, so seeing it on a screen and getting some tips for how to get further out was extremely helpful. Hit some balls on the range afterward, and changing my takeaway, speeding up the backswing and slowing down the weight transfer a little on the downswing felt like it solidified everything from driver down to wedges.

I'm gonna try to make it out tomorrow or Friday morning, so we'll see if I stand by this then!

Mine was a little over 2 hours.

Enjoyed every second of it.

Just upset a bit I’m not crazy enough to spend $315 per shaft for those Airotec’s... I could afford them... but I’d be embarrassed to hit a bad shot with them...

They made swinging any of the clubs effortless... I can see why tour pros use them... but $3200 addition...? You better be making money with those clubs...

JETS GOLF CLUBS- 3.jpg

I believe the delivery delay in @Jets 31 golf clubs, are because their being delivered by a special armoured freight train. The manufacturers of these very special clubs are acutely aware of the importance of the safe delivery of these special clubs to their recipient, and there is no room for error here. Be patient, they will get here - the world is watching.

Oh I think Aerotech is making a bagillion dollars...

They have a unique product with a steel fiber outer layer around graphite... patented for a while yet... no one else has it... Steelfiber Golf Shafts | Graphite | Composite | Aerotech Golf Shafts

So they are making out like pirates...

My clubs will be primo regardless... now I wait...

I do appreciate y'all talking about how much you spend on clubs. No question in my mind that fitting is well worth the time and money, but my game is crap so it would be largely a waste of money. Maybe when I'm retired and golfing more though. On the bright side, I'm probably only about two years away from getting a Callaway Mavrik driver (brand new) for about $100 so that should be a nice upgrade for me. o_O

very interesting boys. I asked my pro at Golftec and he said it’s a little busy.

I am thinking of at least getting a custom driver.

Update on my winter of trying golf again. Part 1

It’s been a really start and stop process this winter with the changing regulations, Golftec being closed, then being very limited. All of a sudden I have been weeks between lessons. I have probably had 10 lessons total with a 10 x 30 minute practice sessions after.

Today after weeks off I hit two warm ups then we record my 3rd swing. The pro breaks it down on a side by side with a touring pro. Frame by frame even I was really pleased with the progress since the lessons began. My pro said that my mechanics are now really good and I think he said if He couldn’t see the flight path of the ball he would guess I am a single digit handicap. It would be awesome if that’s where the story ended.

However, he was growing increasingly frustrated by my club face angle at contact which was all over the map. I found it fascinating because despite my smooth mechanics the ball flight was a disaster.

Also my mechanics are not really consistent yet. Although he likes all the current versions of my swing there are noticeable variations that he wants to get closer.

These things are frustrating him more than me which is hilarious.

Part 2

after spraying the ball everywhere on the lesson the pro hangs up a target on the tarp and asks me to just do a very short back swing and try to hit the target.

so for my entire 30 minute practice session after my lesson I focused on my take away only and hit chips at the target and forgot about the mechanics. All I did was try to hit the target which forced clean contact and proper club face angle.

It felt great and after 20 minutes I was feeling the contact and hitting dead strait. For the last 10 minutes I would do four shot sequences 1 chip, 1 x 50%, 1x 75%, then one full swing but all very target focused.

The crazy part is all of a sudden 8 out of 10 shots were on target vs maybe 1 or 2 out of 10 durning the lesson.

It was good to just turn off the recorder, forget the mechanics, and feel the contact.

I was at peace once again for both lesson and practice. I am enjoying the journey back from the brink of retirement.

Buggs...

Our fittings are using digital capture... analytic computed math... geometry... and engineering in every discipline...

We exist on HFJets... and have not expired...

We endure HFjets...

The fittings are at Golftec... there is no HFJetsTec to correct us...

Perhaps you missed the rest of the earlier part of the Golf thread...

.... You get a fitting after a buying into a certain amount of lessons and practice time... and if you go to the lessons... actually practice and use the lesson session time/technology...

You progress to the extent where you actually can see the fitting session/club purchase as a "Thing"...

A Thing you feel could be used... maybe add enjoyment... perhaps gain an advantage now and then...

I am not old... I am not young...

But I am old enough to know some "things" are priceless...

And it's never to late to dream...

Feel the contact... hmmmm ... ?

Prescient ps' ...

Break the swing down in bits... specifically finishing at the optimal impact position...

Everything you do going back... within reason... is so not as important as finishing in the O.I.P. ...

I think you liked this video earlier in this thread ...

Focus on the O.ptimal... I.mpact... P.osition segment... seer that into your mind...

That's mostly what matters...

Carry on with your journey...

And after your lessons... go practice... breaking it down in bits... and feel the contact... when you start to know the difference in contact...

You're there... at peace... on a journey...

Nice, I love my Mizuno’s. Hope they’re good to you and come sooner than later.

I think I’ve decided on a Mizuno hybrid for this season as well. Better get on ordering it!

I used to be an avid Golf Digest when I was younger (before the internet when magazines were one of the only ways to learn about golf). I’ll never forget the issue where they broke down 60fps shots of the swings by Nicklaus, Palmer, Trevino, Price and Snead, frame by frame from start to finish. The point of the article was to show how differently all of them took the club back in the backswing but when it came to impact, they all looked identical. Their head position, hip position and most importantly their top hand position were identical at impact.

I’ve never forgotten this and it’s probably the single biggest thing I’ve focused on in playing golf. There are many ways to skin a cat (not condoning skinning cats), but impact is a one way street, the club face has to be square to where you want the ball to go, everything else is gravy.
