I want to thank all the Canadian spectators, who supported Finland in the final. I don't think I've ever heard "Let go Finland" sound so loud, when the Suomi cheering was quiet at some points. Thank you Canada for giving us so great hockey fans. Thank You for cheering us. Please join our celebration as honorary finns for one day!

What a game. I was honestly a bit worried of my heart during the last moments, and I'm not even 30 yet.

First, major props to our guys. Unbelievable character and grit - especially Kapanen, who worked his butt off and had a ton of chances in the tournament (most of them created by himself by making the right plays, not just given) and was finally rewarded. And that 1st line - just WOW. Laine has very good chances to be Finland's own Ovechkin, Aho seems like the 2nd coming of Saku Koivu and Puljujärvi... I can't even find a suitable player to compare him to (though there might be a couple but I'm not that much of a hockey wiz to know).

Second, big applause to Russia. Your team played great and had you won, as devastating it would have been, I wouldn't have thrown my TV out of the window. This could have gone both ways.

Third, a shoutout to the great Russian fans on HFB. A clear majority of you took this loss like men. It appears to me that the users from other countries who had settled to root for Russia (for whatever reason) were doing the most of whining while actual Russians were acting classy.

Thanks for awesome tournament! I watched the FLA-BUF game tonight and missed the intensity of the WJC so much. Towards the World Cup we go! :)

Many of these kids play in Canada, in the CHL and in the NCAA/AHL. Leafs fans know and love both Nylanders, Kapanen, many of these players are well known to Canadian hockey fans. And most USA hockey fans besides Ron Wilson :)

The Finns are such a likeable team and earned the respect they get, one hell of a tournament and they had a great bunch of players besides the two monsters Pulhujaarvi and Laine, Rantanen, Juolevi, Kapanen, Aho...I think a lot of Canadian hockey fans just loved the pure entertainment of the final. And Russia was also a damn good team - this Provorov looks like he's going to be a wicked dman, too bad he's a Flyer :sarcasm:

Even as a team Canada fan I thought that final was awesome. I love this tournament.

Big props to Finland for the win. Not sure if we will ever see 3 draft eligible kids on the same team do what the they did for Finland. That is insane. Also Props to Russia for being a team that never ever quits.

Hah! Pulju's face in that team pic... almost equally legendary with OJ's.

5-3 Finland with Kapanen empty netter at the end.

damn....I had it nearly right......considering that the Russian Defence decided to go on a game of Wipeout taking their goalie with them leaving Kapanen practically an empty netter.

It is a pity that three times in a row proved to be a step away from the gold.
On the other hand , our 1st team always falls in major tournaments .. I am sure the World Cup 2016 in Toronto , Russia simply will not work from the group.

I watched MTV-series Awkward and realized that there's much in common to reality. Young Finnish Lions can look at this pridely, they were winners against tougher opposing forces. Also some of them have colourful futures in forehand with millions of dollars, which can only be nice!

Any reports on why the Russian captain was thrown out? What happened?

Initially he went to complain to the refs (as in swear at them probably) about the tripping? penalty that led to the Finnish PP and goal and got a 10 for it, got upset about the 10 and broke his stick on the outside of the penalty box and went inside and immediately hit an official's clipboard out of his hand causing his hand to bleed a bit.

Was sitting next to a ref buddy who was in a ref chat at the time and that was the only big reffing mistake of the finals, automatic 5+20 every time if you manage to be stupid enough hit an official or ref. Now the refs managed to create a new penalty that was 10+20 or in some sources 10+10 or something stupid...

So Winland should've been on PP for the last couple of minutes but hey, it worked out.
