I don't think how much politics is wise to put that Escort fighter question, its just already established tradition in Finland. Nice show of respect.

If we have a budget to fly Hornets all around country guarding borders every single day, it cannot be any kind budget issue. I felt ashamed when I read that initial news that FAF would skip the ritual this time. Luckily there was people who realized most important nuances of whole thing.

1942, when Finland was in the middle of war, there was no troubles to send 4 top scoring members of Knight Flight of Lvl. 24 to escort Adolf Hitler's Condor en route to visit the Marshal for his 75 anniversary: Compulsory duty to Commander-in-chief.

Hell yeah! Finland can and should always honor our OWN BOYS (and also GIRLS when they really make their championship longer than 12 mins) thereafter.

Midnight Hawks is actually exactly that FAF-Squadron, whom should have permanent privilege to do this kind sorties. They are unarmed and they honorary escort the Hockey team, not some kind test detachment of violent reconnaissance.

I am going for logistics, there are a ton of new careers for NCO:s and commisioned officers especially if you have a civilian career CV they like for something special.
You dont need to go to the courses, that mostly personal training that affects how you are viewed in the regional office, they decide your faith and you need to convince them.
So go there, give a CV and tell that you are willing to do what they see fit for you.
Is this South Africa or really Finnish Army? They can't be that lenient. No, when I didn't get even a local units placement, I knew I was done. Too old (40) to rock 'n roll, too young to die, as Jethro Tull put it. I could try a mercenary career in case anyone has the old junk I worked with. Or maybe... I just enjoy the hockey here :D

Couldn't sleep last night as I kept replaying Pesonen's screamer all night in my head. Absolutely wonderful moment to be alive in Finland. Rakastan Leijonat! Hyvä Suomi!

I dont know how but I knew he was going to score when he was in the corner, I knew he was going to score and that the game was over.

You need to be physically fit, willing to train new skills and they really like that you have some civilian skills that you bring.
Modern war machine needs so much support that the list of jobs is very long, logistics, construction and infrastructure etc.

ps. The old SADF was a very good outfit that had a lot in common with our system.

Midnight Hawks is the honor guard of the FAF, best pilots serve as instructors in the academy.
I didn't mean the pilots, but the equipment isn't our first squad so to speak. Beauful planes though.

They would never get the permission to approach a commercial airliner.

You're probably right, didn't think about that. Escorting from half a mile away wouldn't be quite the same

You start with a concern about PC and then you don't even mention the Brewsters. (Not the awful USN F2A variants but the B239 stripped modded Pylly-Valtteris.)

We should do the escort flight with Kopteri-Kustaa's (Wärldens Bästa Gustavs) brainpower NH90 fleet. Okay with the Miniguns I'm starting to like them but his budgeting and procurement didn't make sense. Nobody wants the Tiger/Tigre. Ask the Aussies.

Rambling, am I? Need some pillow time... SUOMI!!!

Haha. I'm done my fair share of posts already about Lvl. 24, The Pearl of Skies etc., rigidly topical to every hockey discussions in HFB.

I am Probably the last guy to blamed here for not mentioning that old delivery of American scrap metal. 1:28

Those NH90s and Little Birds make one of the best special forces aviation units in the world, ask the Americans, Brits or the Aussies that know them and can compare.

It was such a huge compliment that SADF who wrote the book on mines and explosives, and came up with the early protected vehicles, wanted the AMV as their new APC.

Too bad the weight of a "some big previous customer" pushed the Mowag Piranha IV (or whatever) everywhere. The Poles for one like their AMVs.

Their plane is gonna land soon so I'm excited to see if anyone will pull the legendary "Nupe's ilmaveivi". Some of the players promised that it will happen.

I usually try to volunteer nice-moderate until I want to go hey ho let's go. So there's that.

What? Scrap metal what?

I honestly can't go back to my books about Lvl 24 because I don't have them.

The engine fix of inverting the bottom piston ring, was it ever given back to US Navy?

I think Germany has the best beer in the world.

That title might go to Belgium, even if it is not a real country.
Just remembered I have two Hoegaardens in the fridge, get some now.

@Stubu: "Scrap metal" was just reference to the fact that whole type was already deemed obsolete by both manufacturers and U.S. Government. The reason it was even possible to them to sell those airframes to Finland. The rest is the glorious part of history of military aviation. Trying to be nice myself too. :)

Brewster's manufacturing has been deemed crappy, it was one of the worse aircraft manufacturers. But USN's requirements, especially armoring, made the Buffalo a bumblebee. Stripped of those, it did fine until it got obsolete. Aw to hell with fine, let's get banned :dunce:  :joker:

Lol. It's Almost more intersting topic than hockey.

For those who don't know, read: Brewster F2A Buffalo - Wikipedia so we don't get banned with Stubu. :D

Other topic is then those Fiat G. 50s. Lol!

what do you guys think, maybe if Canada sends more players to Liiga, they can win some year?

tryina be graceful & constructive

I think nah.

Won Gold 2015-16, Silver 2017 & 2019. Still sit on #1. 26 Gold all-time behind only Russia's 27.
IIHF - World Ranking

Considering the style of the loss I'd setup a few strats and drills to score on a Finnish-style "10 minute golden turtle defense".
