I bet the Over Chief (whats that in proper english..) Niinistö was positive on this. Maybe even the order giver
Commander in Chief; there was Supreme Commander in older wartimes; actually dunno the proper translation now

it's definitely Supreme Prez Of The Known Hockey Universe Sale himself gave the order

Can't be Arrow 19, we didn't have any aircraft from NA this time? And it ended already anyway. (Seems like the Marines and Cav liked it, no matter what Stars and Stripes writes.)

They could send them if they really wanted, the Air Force is on 24/7/362 readiness for war.
The ecercises ended last week, there are some other possible reasons that I will not speculate further here.

Bold Quest also had minimal participation from fighters to my understanding.
You where in Arrow? I am jealous, my days in the frontlines are over, beans and bullets wait for me to count them, when younger I was behind the frontline.

No, they are on Mon-Fri 9am-5pm readiness.

Oh wait that was Flygvapnet. My bad.

(Just kidding. Grinding the lingering Swedes with how bad they were a decade ago before they picked up the pace again.)

Whole Finland is gone complete nuts (if that isn't our default setting). Hockey championship is the thing that can unify us. Most of those who couldn't give a shit about hockey are now partying too, in way or another. Its actually completely absurd and surreal thing how it goes, how deep into the society and how wide all around. I love it.

I only hope that those few trolls and critics here and there could keep their mouths shut up and have even a day of happiness in their lives.

:)

Nope, way old. But the network testing involved live dropping of ordnance, at least one 500lb JDAM (well, dumb bomb) and lotsa juicy arty fires. Wish I'd been there but not accidentally in the target area, which might as well have happened

What do you mean, "gone"? We are. That's our best quality.

Let them sulk in their own misery. I love this unity and the way we won this whole thing, getting a real whiff of talvisodan henki ATM. This is what Leijonat is all about.

A very sympathetic pic that describes what is happening.

I feel you. I've looked at Arrow footage from 16 to 19 wishing I could have been there. Alas, when they got them new fangled Hornets my gen of mighty MiG wizards had no really sensible new placement any more. (Maybe a decade more as a distributed small airbase defence squad leader, as we were trained too, but the sell by date arrived on that too. Nowadays I have to be just a civilian. Weird. I'm learning to like it, so maybe I should go for some volunteer reservist course?)

I am going for logistics, there are a ton of new careers for NCO:s and commisioned officers especially if you have a civilian career CV they like for something special.
You dont need to go to the courses, that mostly personal training that affects how you are viewed in the regional office, they decide your faith and you need to convince them.
So go there, give a CV and tell that you are willing to do what they see fit for you.

I'm not disappointed that it's "only" Hawks that are doing the escort. After all it's an honorary thing anyway, so not doing it at all would have been different. I already thought that some private pilots should be hired to do that (there's one Fouga Magister in commercial use here in Pori for example and I "know" there has to be few others also. Would have been also a kind of figurative respect for our "worst ever team in WHC". Well, Hawks will be a bit same too; not the first squad, but they do their job when asked.

Midnight Hawks is the honor guard of the FAF, best pilots serve as instructors in the academy.

They would never get the permission to approach a commercial airliner.
