I think Finland is the most hockey crazed country on earth. It's quite amazing really.

Lets say more diplomatically that we are the only country that competes with Canada in the sense of how largely hockey is part of the culture.
And we honor Canada every year when the Canada Cup is given to the champions.

Anttila was one of my favorite guys to watch in the KHL when I followed Jokerit during the 2017-18 season, so super happy about this.

What a tournament for Finland too.

Nah, it depends of the success.

We have pretty good basketball team and during world championship and euros it was really popular. Same thing with volleyball. Football is also popular if we win haha. There's a saying that we are not crazy about sports, we are crazy about success, which is really accurate.
For me it's all about hockey - no matter the results.

Is there any sports that Finland excellence at other that Ice Hockey ? Based on the news and the celebration, apparently Ice Hockey is the only sport Finns passionate about?

Nothing comes even close to hockey but:

-Football (soccer) has good following.
-Motor Racing (Formula 1 & WRC mostly) are really big as well.
-Basketball as someone mentioned previously.
-Floorball, not big as a spectator sport but a lot of people play it as a hobby.
-Pesäpallo (Finnish variant of baseball), is really popular in the more rural areas.
-Various track & field athletics. Very popular among older people.
-General winter sports like cross-country skiing, ski-jump, biathlon etc. Same as above, traditional sports that are very popular among older people in Finland.

And finally E-sports which is probably going to take over hockey eventually. Mostly young people follow this tho.

But hockey unites all of the demographics, and for most hockey is still the number 1 sport, if not then it's number 2 for pretty much 99% of the remaining population.

Helsinki-Vantaa airport is getting ready.

It's now official the Finn Air Force Hornets won't be escorting them home this time from Slovakia. :pout:

So the next best thing:

EdT: LOL I didn't see this was posted three times already. :towel:

I only hope they (FAF) make a good quality footage of that mission, and publish it. :)

It is a good possibility if the Midnight Hawks will scramble to meet the Bogey flight, they are professionals in that also, the Hornet drivers mainly take footage from Russian fighter and bombers.

So. semantics. And btw - semantics.
Don't get me started on the division between semantics and pragmatics, and which one should be on top. I'll leave that to respectable universities since I'm out of that scene, finally.

It's likely it'll be just one but it'd be grand if they sent all four. In a tight, tight formation.
