Great time for murray to not show up.

Murray is horrible

LOL Murray

Murray is absolutely garbage

Murray is so overrated.

Eat **** Murray

2 goals on 3 shots.
good job Murray

He didn't look great on the third goal, but he was a large part of making the final - played really well against the Czechs.

If you have never played net, you have no idea how hard it can be to keep loose and keep your focus when all the play is in the other end.

Eh it is not just this one tournament he has been inconsistent all year long. Trash from Oct to December then great till playoffs then mediocre in the sweep. He has since carried that into the Worlds so it is fair IMO to criticize him for it.

0 goals for isn't a recipe for success and it isnt on Murray. Everyone was bad and deserved to lose
NO! Everyone wasn't bad. Murray played well (third goal was a bit iffy), and the rest of the team played very well. Give the Finns some credit - they played very well, keeping us to the outside, blocking shots, clearing the front of the net, and limiting quality chances. Lankinen was superb.

Nothing at all to be ashamed of, or mad about.

Disappointed, yes. The game could have gone either way, but they got a couple more bounces.

It was a great game: exciting, fun, nerve-wracking, and ultimately disappointing.

I wouldn't say "run through", but definitely out-worked both teams.

The goalie also was unbreakable. I thought we would be lucky to not get cut from the World Champs would be great. Then these guys poured their hearts out and left everything on the ice.

I don't think I've ever been as proud of my countrymen as right this moment.

i didn't actually watch the Russia game but 1-0 against them is pretty damn impressive they had the most loaded roster

and yea the Finns ran thru Canada i watched the whole game id say we won the first period but even then it was just one goal - Canada was done from the start of the second so id call finlands win today over us a literal walk (just with a lot of useless perimeter cycling from Team Canada)

Sure - reasonable criticism is fine, as I did for the third goal. But the posters I quoted (not you, I see) are going way overboard in blaming him for the loss.

Having played a lot of goal, I probably have a better appreciation of how hard it is, and, I'm sure, more sympathy.

Come on it was a single game it can goes both side.

Finland is the on the top of the world right now yes but called it self the best hockey nation of the world. That's over-rated.

Also, can someone please extend Jalonen's contract? Just chain him behind the bench! I never want him to leave.
After this, Liitto absolutely has to do whatever it takes to sign him to a two-year extension, running through to 2022. There's no other guy we want for the Olympics and the home ice WHC.

It's a long spell though, the Finnish men's ice hockey NT head coach is not called the most stressful job in Finland - or maybe the world (or the universe...) - for nothing. Kari Jalonen, they wanted to extend him, but he said no because two seasons was enough. Marjamäki was also completely cooked in the same time. JJJ, however, would enjoy a rare blessing - after this, together with 2011 and 2016 with the U20, he's completely ironclad against any and all criticism. Find me a single soul here in Finland who dares to tell him how to coach a hockey team, and I promise to find you a unicorn with a rainbow-colored coat in return.

Finnish version of the famous Raising the flag on Iwo Jima photo

It was great to win as this is such a huge thing in Finland. The whole country goes crazy. 4 hours of sleep

Holy mother; what have you done Leijonat!?

Kicked the livin' daylight out of mighty Canada - that's wot you done!

No wonder people were dancing in the streets (and fountains!) of cities like: Pori, Helsinki and Tampere!
On a sunday; remember. Crazy.

Sieg hallelujah to the strapping young lads of Finland (not you - Kuusela - you 36 year ol' geek!).

Gold and green forests in the land of the thousand lakes. Me like.

Hero, hero über alles; Jesus Jalonen.
