GDT: Game #58: Oilers @ Bolts - 5:30 PM - SN1

The only reason I can think for this lineup is KK clearly telling Bowman and Jackson to get him a third line centre and to trade Jeff Skinner.

I also don’t understand why Klingberg isn’t playing. Wasn’t the whole point to get him minutes to evaluate him prior to the trade deadline? He just had two weeks off.

He was far from the worst defence man this past weekend. The guy who was the worst D wore number two.

I think its also a sign he wants faster players in the line up. I think thats why Kapanen is there.

Might be the reason why JSkinner is in his dog house too. Might be more due to his speed than his defensive abilities.

I'd be curious to see how many of those 12GA were actually his fault too, probably not many. When you go to the tape you see it's the same collection of idiots making the primary mistakes on many of the GA (Skinner/Pickard, Bouchard, guys like RNH primarily).

The rest of the team can be playing badly as well. Both can be true.

I hope skinner gets lit up like a Christmas tree. Force management to actually have to do something.

That’s a plausible explanation, as good as any. That said Skinner has been producing whereas Kap has not. Skinner’s defensive players also improved quite a bit.

Losing Foegele McLoed and Holloways speed is really stinging.
 
Feels like we never play well here. Though for some reason it always feels like it's a scheduled loss off of back to backs with travel or 3 games in 4 nights with stupid travel.

This game should be good depending on which version of the Oilers shows up.

Your memory and actual history are perfectly in sync. Though there was at least one goalie fail in there though with Edmonton being the better team in last year's game going up 2-0 early then Skinner collpasing in the third giving up two separate leads. Shots were 42-23 for Edmonton. Skinner again shit the bed vs. Tampa weeks later in Edmonton giving up 5 on 22 shots again while Vasilevski only allowed 4 on 57 shots. We also had a third period lead in this one as well until Tampa lit him up in the third.

I think that you are on to something with this.
Contrary to what some posters want to beleive...Knoblauch isnt an idiot.
I dont agree with all his decisions but I try to give him the benefit of the doubt that he has a reason for what he is doing.
I have been saying this for months now but Skinner adds virtually nothing to this lineup from a needs perspective.
This team needs more speed and more size ...no doubt about that.

So what Skinner does bring isnt what this team really needs...especially in the middle 6.

The levels of stupid you need to be to lose every young speedy forward in one offseason after just playing in the cup finals with them.

Media need to rip into this management.

Fun fact. We have exactly the same amount of points as we did last year at 57 games. So arguably it’s proof that we are a worse team than last year.
We are probably not adding anything outside a 4th liner at the deadline cause we have 0 cap.
 
I don’t think I want to watch the team lately. It’s harder to watch knowing what this team became last year and realizing we aren’t close to that team this year.
