You really think that with this men you'll played better? We have very much top forwards and goalkeepers, but we can't win since 1992 year.

Without a question. Just because it didn't help you does not mean our best would not help us. In fact it's pretty clear they can and do. I'm not even sure how this is a discussion.

Everyone was missing players, but I feel like the USA was he most short handed with Canada missing a lot of key players.

It's just crazy how Finland can turn up with average AHL:ers in the starting lineup, and still make the finals.

Their team game is unparalelled.

He clamped his arm down on Stone's stick and went down easy.

How about when that Finnish player slashed Stone's stick out of his hands? Where was the call there?

Or how about when Komarov mugged Marchand and they both got 2?

Or Scheifele going for a loose puck getting 2 minutes for slashing?

How about the interference (the pick and roll in basketball, right?) pulled off by Finland all game long?

What about them? This was the call that caused the most controversy so I decided to gif it.

I count four, one of them being the backup goalie.

And whether the 9th best scorer is "average" is up for interpretation.

Finland thought they'd let the win come to them instead of taking it. I understand that the Finn's always have a specific gameplan, but this is a championship game! How can you continue to trap and not apply any pressure throughout the whole game as if you feel that you will get gifted an opportunity? This is no different from a point mma fighter/boxer whose sole objective is to squeak out a decision. Big mistake. This was a huge coaching fail, imo.

In saying that, hats off to both teams and to Canada for avenging the loss. The Finn's have cemented themselves as a top 3 hockey powerhouse, but until they realize that they need to adapt their play, they'll never win a best on best hockey tourney. Now is the time for them to change that style with so many badass players in their system starting to reach their primes.

I'm not sure did you mean exactly this team with the "average AHL:ers" because our 2 AHL defenders were TOP10 in D scoring this season and Rantanen wasn't exactly just an average AHLer either winning the rookie of the year thing. But i get your point, Finland can succeed with a worse team than others. Tonight it wasn't pretty but they never got the game going anyways. I think the style of play will change more to offensive minded since we've got these studs coming.

Hopefully players like Ristolainen and Jokipakka accept invitations next year. Having 0 NHL defenseman in your squad is brutal.

****** coach. If we had led at any point in this game it would've been turtle mode. Probably lose anyway with that **** too.

Crosby, Toews, Benn, Seguin, Tavares, Getzlaf, Giroux, Stamkos, Bergeron, Carter, Spezza, Thornton, Couture, Doughty, Keith, Weber, Burns, Letang, Subban, Giordano.

This list made me chuckle. The talent Canada can field at any given time is enormous.

Don't know about Jokipakka, but Risto had his reasons. Getting the contract in NHL is the most important thing at the moment and we won't behead him like they would do in the host country.

Agreed. This isn't on the players. It's on the system and coaching that's been ingrained on them for years in national play.

I think people confuse the Finland's "disciplined team game" when it really is "stubborn and can't adapt".

I'm scared to think how good they can be with a more adaptive system and once their superstars reach their primes. If they do, they'll be winning a lot of gold medals...

The difference is that Canada adapted. They tidied up their neutral zone play, got the puck deep, and took away Finland's ability to capitalize on neutral zone turnovers.

I think Canada matched lines a little too easily as well when you consider Finland was the home team able to make last change.

Well, when the team you play against doesn't make any mistakes its kind of your problem, isn't it?

Today it was a big problem for sure. That was far from the best Finland so don't judge at least by just tonight's game. They did pretty well in u18 and u20 with good all around game. Today's performance was totally a shiet show from Finland no question. But they do attack too in general.

I wouldn't accept team Finland to play prettier than they can. The speed difference and roster difference is just there and that affects the system they play with. It will be more offensive minded since we have the younger coach and our best team in World Cup.

I think ROR earned himself a World Cup spot. Hall, Duchene, Stone, and Perry gave themselves a good chance. I would include Marchand; however, I think his lack of discipline after the whistle may make Team Canada's selection uneasy.

Congrats to Canada. Well done to adapt after first game and I consider the triumph as a team effort which was clever and tactically the key. Putting pressure on the Finnish defend high up was the difference from the previous game. Jalonen failed to realize that during the game and never made changes to the tactic. Canada's high pressure should been contered with centers falling down to create quicker attacks. That's my opinion. Canada earned a well deserved victory. Cheers.
