Well the result was pretty much what I expected. Can't wait to see somebody to slap Leonards tits off in the NHL some day tho, seems like he just cant help it and will pull that shit in the show too.

Congrats US! I stopped watching when we were leading 2-1. Too tired (it was something like half past three in the morning) and I didn't want to sleep today off. Best hockey of the year or not, there are others things that need attention IRL.

Are we seriously playing this game again? Another one of you're fans tried this....didn't work out great. I've been nothing cordial but chirping about not getting a medal in two years is weak. Sorry edog but Canada has more gold medals then the USA has medals combined.

I think USA winning gold will make it fun to watch. Can't wait.
Still playing off past glory…

Rimpinen deserved the gold... Poor Rimpinen.

Two 4-3 games between these teams. They were very even in the tournament.

Proud of you Finnish guys. You really won that medal. Canada was the only team you didn't defeat in this tournament.

At least it wasn't a fluke goal like Svoboda'

At least it wasn't a fluke goal like Svoboda's. 3 on 3 does decrease the chance of a ping pong type goal and increase the chance of a skilled one. US dominated puck possession and scored.

Hockey is Americas game

I'm Boston born & raised, but its still Canada's game to lose for at least the next decade, but its gotten close enough that they can lose it if not playing or managing close to their best.

I am actually glad it is Stiga. Will likely be a career highlight. He's not guaranteed anything beyond this.

Really good post. Unless the NHL expands to 40 teams, Stiga probably has a 5% chance at playing 200+ Games in the NHL. So it's terrific he scored.

Thought the US didn't care about this tournament, or is that one when somemone else wins? lol. Congrats, they were the best team in the tournament.

Because it's your guys' sport. It's literally your thing. You're supposed to be the best, so it's big news when you don't win. It's said every year, it's gold or bust for Canada. No other country expects their teams to win every year. Canada does. Canada. Hockey. Hockey. Canada. Know what I mean? Lol

It also doesn't help that when Canada does lose the excuses just poor out from your fans so you guys get ripped on. For years and years all I've seen and heard is "our talent is so deep we can send our B and C teams and still win gold!" Then when you lose it turns into "we didn't take our best players!!!" So which is it? Hahaha

You should have seen the Canadian crybabies attacking me when I kept shoving it in their faces about the 1980 US Olympic Team winning Gold, despite not having
8-9 of the best NCAA aged peer players, starting with Hall of Famers, Rod Langway
and Joe Mullen. They couldn't handle the fact a US Team with a much shallower
player pool than what they have now in comparison, got it done.

Bunch of ****ing crybabies.

Finns, be proud. Small country that stepped up this year and played big. You could've very easily walked away with the gold. You out-medaled your Swedish neighbors, someone the sting of losing this game dies down you should enjoy talking shit about that with Swedes for awhile. You've got some damn good players coming out of your country.

But it's okay, silver was a good result for the team plus this North American pissing match is kinda entertaining
Yeah, you'd almost think USA was playing Canada in this game, not Finland. What makes this even more entertaining is all the chest-thumping from the fans of a program that hasn't won a men's tournament since 1996. We'll see if that's going to change in the upcoming years, but right now one can't help but chuckle.

Of course, this isn't to say that this Team USA didn't earn this win, fair and square, and aren't allowed to enjoy it and celebrate it with their fans.

The Canada bashing doesn't exist in a vacuum. The booing of other players, TSN's flippant reporting, newspaper wanting apologies from referees, etc. likely plays a big part in it.

Normally Canada is a great host, but something was just not right with them this tournament. Too much entitlement and arrogance me thinks - on and off the ice.

Congrats USA! Painful loss for us, but i'm proud of how our team played. Finns are probably the most resilient, that's why we are nightmare opponent in meaningful games.

But the best team in this tournaments won, no doubt about it.

Per capita, Finland and Sweden are the best hockey countries in the world. IMO
triple the population of Finland & double Sweden's and North America would win best on best 3 out of 10 times.

Nailed it. The crying about officials and all the excuses for losing was insufferable. This is the same group of people who called the montreal police demanding Chara be charged for his hit on Patches. Lol
