Again, as I said before .. this is only valid when you lack talent and skill. Which isn't the case in NHL.
Ofcourse when you play against less talented teams, all they can do is just grind and hang and park the bus in front of goal.

IMO the big ice is better since the space allows talented players to showcase their skills so much better.
At the same time you can also enlarge goals, so we'll have a massive show out there.

I know what you're saying, but there is a lot of talent gap in the NHL in regard to specific teams or more accurately specific lines. You would see some fast hockey, but shutdown / checking lines would make the game worse with the expanded neutral zone. It's not as simple as big ice = faster hockey.

Canada got away with some stuff, but Russia was also trying to sell some stuff too.

Very even period despite the shot disparity. Russia just has too much skill, Canada will need more from their big guns, or this is gonna turn in to another Russian comeback story.

Loving the Oilers with Crosby, but the warts in their game showed pretty clearly that first period. Hall skating hard on the backcheck, but then... Skating right passed his mark? Why? Eberle with lot of time a space... Dangerous drop pass at the blueline? Why?

Hopefully this experience, and some good coaching will help them work that out of their game, because it's obvious they are right there on the cusp of dominance.

I kinda don't care who wins this one. I'm more looking at Plotnikov and am wanting the Pens to pick him up the more i've seen him in this tourney.

Is this guy available? Someone said he got out of his KHL contract?

Yes he is coming. He seems like a Kulemin type of player to me. Strong, hard working, good along the boards, not sure about his scoring touch.

So wait? if Canada goes undefeated in regulation, Hockey Canada gets one million Swiss Francs?

I guess you missed the 2014 Olympics. Just wait until McDavid comes along.

It was different. It was effective, but in Sochi there were at least a distant chance for the opponent to win a game. Tonight its almost Russia´s best squad and it looks like they are stuck in a swamp. The speed is the most impressive thing in Canada´s game tonight.

ps. I'm talking about 80-100 inches more, not the international rink size.

The NHL is too stubborn. They have constantly tried to ignore international events. They don't care about tournaments they can't make money off.

Nice. He'll be a good pick up for someone.
I think his game can translate well to the smaller ice.

We all forget most of Sochi so easily. Tons of games in 2014 were slow and grind-filled with little speed.

And you Canadians said it was the big ice that made it *cough* Don Cherry *Cough*.
If you would stop listening to that old fart and obeying everything that comes out from his mouth you would see that there's a lot of other reasons why some games where slow in Sochi.

Bigger ice surface would only be positive for the NHL.

Bob is keepign the ruskies in it. Canada is running circles around them. But can't bury their chances.

Absolutely. He's looking like he could steal this game for them, provided the Russians score.

That Taylor Crosberle line has got to cash in soon. They created a shooting gallery out there.
