Malkin and Ovechkin legit care.

Kovalchuk is a loser.

It's sad that they still look to this loser for leadership.

Malkin would do well in learning from someone like Datsyuk. Ovi should get Bure as his guru.

Russia hockey still hold Kovalchuck as some hero that said no to the NHL. The only thing he said no to was playing to win. Gonna retire with a pile of money and nothing else to show for it. It's truly sad that they still hold him in high regard.

He needs to go away, so some real Russians can take over this broken system that can't play Canada.

I agree, refuse to watch that gimmicky crap.

Totally de-values international play.

I also don't want them mixing with US players in general.

I feel bad for those guys getting lumped into team Europe or whatever as well.

Beside a few, the rest of the team left before the anthem. Why have the Russians become so classless the last few years when they lose in the final? I know nobody wants to watch the opponents celebrate, but there's a proper time to leave and before the anthem is not the right time. I knew they were going to do a quick one when they immediately went to shook hands right after receiving their silver medals. The classless Kovalchuk is one thing, but the coaching staff and managment should have stopped the players and directed them to stay but even they left. This isn't the first time they were sore losers. In 2010 after receiving their silver medals, they immediately took them off :shakehead. I understand that losing in the final is tough but by doing that, they give the impression that they think they're much better than the result and winning gold was their destiny.

How many classless Subbans did the Russian achieve?

Have they confirmed they are doing that?

Well stated.

I could be mistaken but I thought that was the format.

Kopitar slugs it out for years and now gets lumped with non Slovenian players in "International" play?

Brutal

I'm sorry I love Bure but what exactly would he need to "guru" Ovi in?

He wouldn't be in the World Cup at all if they didn't make Team Europe.

I haven't watched the game but did the russians get ****-faced last night? I suppose the score isn't surprising, but the SOG were 37-12? Really?

Honestly, i would like to see a World Cup with an 80's flavor.

Team Czechslovakia (combined Czech Slovak Squad)
Team former Soviet Union (with Belarus, latvia, Kazakhstan etc. combined)
Finland
Sweden
Canada
Deutchland (Germany / Switzerland)
USA

Yep, to get to 8 teams they have in addition to the big six (Canada, USA, Sweden, Finland, Czech Rep., Russia) they will add 2 gimmick teams
North america young guns (23 and under)
and
Team Europe (players from European countires not listed above)

it will be stupid.

They should add in Team Palindrome. Lupul would be the captain.

Great win. Hockey Canada keeps following the template forged in Vancouver with fast, skilled teams and a mobile, puck-moving defence. Keep the grinders at home and go with skill. Kudos to Mike Smith, who I never thought would play this well.

Boo to the Russian players and coaches for leaving the ice before the trophy presentation and anthem. Totally classless.

That is the stupidest idea ever. Who's brilliant idea was it?

Horrible game for our team, very shameful loss. Canada played as a team and had an actual strategy - our coach, Znarok, had none, it seems! 2 Canadians were blocking each Russian forward attempting to start an attack. The Canadians just smothered them, they were everywhere. The Russians were slow, made many mistakes.

I have never seen the Russian team being this dominated and outplayed. Very disappointed in the performance. And to think that players like Ovechkin and Tarasenko are NHL league leaders and to be outplayed like this, is incredible.

The Canadian team was lightning fast, made very few errors in passing, positioned themselves perfectly on the ice - a player was always free, open, and ready to strike. The Russians have much to learn from that Canadian team. Overall, Canada's win was 100% deserved.

Russia's team desperately needs new coaching. Znarok doesn't seem to develop any actual strategies. This was already apparent in our match against the US, who also play a very organized brand of hockey.
